2005 F-150 Rumor

I have heard and read that the 05 F-150s will be purely automatic and the manual is going the way of the world along with the Heritage. The F-150 manual is extreamly efficent in towing and powering off-road. i would prefer a Ford Heritage over a Dodge Ram manual. I would like to know if this is true. Will the 2005 s have manual shifters or will they be autos like they are this year. Any Info will be appreciated!

F350 555( Visit me in the Excursion fourum) I still would like your opinion on the F350 fourom. Would u or would you not post daily?

Hi F350 555,

I recall from posts awhile back about the 2005 F150 order guides that manual transmissions will be available only for the 4.2L V6 2005 F150s (Vroom! Vroom!).

....I'd probably not even view an F350 forum...as it's not pertinent to me and the 2004 and GD forums occupy too much of my attention as it is...

I havent heard anything about this, but have you noticed any Chevy Silverados (1500) with a manual tranny? Im pretty sure that you can only get a manual with the Joe Gibbs package. Maybee manuals are a thing of the past with the new, more efficient trannys.

I would much rather tow with the automatic.

The 2005 will have a manual transmission availiable. Ford will start charging for an automatic on the 05's. I believe that I read this in Blue Oval News, check it out.

This is the only relevant BON article I could find:

Ford Delays Manual Transmission For 2005 F150
14 June 2004
Robert Lane

F150s with the manual transmission will not be available at the JOB1 (26 July). Automatic transmissions will now be required for F150s equipped with the 4.2L v6 as well as all regular cab 4x2 XLs, STXs and SLTs.

Ford will charge dealers for all F150 models that will now require the automatic transmission.

Dealers can still order an F150 with a manual transmission; however, they will be placed on hold until the transmission is changed or the manual becomes available. Orders currently in the system will need to be changed to the automatic option in order to be scheduled for build.
I've checked out a few different websites that give an overview of the 2005 F150 and they all make reference to manual transmission only when describing the new 4.2L/V6 engine. In any case, per the article quoted above, no one seems likely to get a manual tranny in any configuration for the '05 F150 very soon.

John

Well if it would be in the 4.6 guys for 2005 will it be in the bigger towing vehichle engines such as the 6 or the 5.4? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, F350 555. As the poll stands, one would post regurly on a new F350 fourum and one would not. Please give your opinion!
