Back in for service
This whole ordeal with my truck is proof positive that following the many procedures in TSB #04-3-3 can get the vibration problem resolved. There are two key things that were a big factor:
1) It takes a long time to go through all the steps of the TSB. I needed to have a lot of patience. That goes for anyone else with a vibration problem in their truck.
2) I needed to find a dealership that was willing to do everything it took to make me satisfied - not just cop out and say that it's normal for these trucks. It is not normal. I highly credit Soerens Ford in Brookfield, Wisconsin for their efforts!
Thank you, again!

Michael - I am worried about being a vibration hypochodriac....
When I test drove multiple F150s, they seemed really nice, but the test drives were very short, etc. The truck I originally picked out was gone - the one I got instead was one of the last red ones around and I really wanted the red - but I swear it doesn't ride any nicer than my ex's 93 F150. It is stiff and it constantly feels like I'm on imperfect (like there are tar strips or minor bumps about every four or five feet) roads. Granted I'm in Missouri, I AM on imperfect roads - but it feels like there aren't any shocks even on this thing - is this possibly the beginning of vibration? I checked the tire pressure and adjusted already and I still am getting a lousy ride...
I keep asking if this is normal, because I'm not sure how "smooth" the ride should be - but I expected it to be nicer than an 11-year-old truck...

The vibration my truck was constant between 60 and 70 MPH, and it peaked at 65 MPH. The only time it went away between that speed range is when I let off the accelerator or disabled the overdrive gear. It felt one of those portable massager things.

Any idea which part of the TSB actually fixed the problem? Drive shaft, rear-end, ?

Do a text search on that page for the word "transmission". It was the transmission causing the vibration, and as the TSB suggested with disabling overdrive the vibration went away. The entire transmission was replaced in my truck, and the vibration is now completely gone.
SilvrDrgn, I'm glad they finally fixed your truck. I solved my problem in May by trading my $30k Ford Massager for a GMC Sierra. I check back here occasionally to see if Ford ever came out with a fix. I really liked the Arizona Beige F150 I had but Ford wouldn't make it right. As a single parent I just didn't have the time to deal with the DSB and the Texas lemon law process so I took the loss and got rid of it.
You are the reason these trucks are so damn expensive! Ya just cant drive the thing, ya gotta nit-pick and find every little vibration, squeak and rattle.... GAS AND DRIVE PEOPLE!! The more and more you find stuff wrong with your vehicle, the more Ford has to spend to cover your warranty concerns, in turn raising the price of OUR trucks! And isnt it funny that when the truck gets just out of warranty, you never return to the dealer for any concerns, or to get general maintnence performed, but when its covered, you are right there, bitching everyday!!! GAS AND DRIVE PEOPLE!!
jhartz, you don't know what your taking about man. If you had paid 30k for a truck that had the vibes we have, I know for sure you would be right there with us demanding it be FIXED! I don't even know why I bothered spending 2 mins. to reply to your trash posting. If your happy with crap, that's fine, we are NOT.
@ jhartz,
Excuse me?!? If my truck was built right in the first place, there wouldn't be any need for me to have the warranty work done. Hence, I wouldn't be raising the price of "OUR" trucks!
We can agree to disagree, but for $30K or more (usually) for a vehicle, it damn well better be built right from the factory. Now take your NY attitude and crawl back into your hole.
