To all 4WD and 2WD owners

What is the best tower out of the 2004 Ford F-150 2WD or 4WD? I have heard that the 4WD i a lot heavier therefor cutting in to its towing capacity. I would like to get some staistics of the towing capaccity from both sides of the spectrum.

Visit me on the Excursion Fourum

F350 555,

I posted the links to the tech Spec sheets last night in your other thread -----> https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=166119

4WD & Supercrew body will reduce your MAX payload/towing capacity.

What is it about the Screw that decreases total towing capacity? Weight of the vehicle itself?

I am not an engineer or anything, but a quick scan of the Tech Specs leads me to believe that the additional weight of the SCrew and/or the 4WD will decrease MAX payload and towing capacity.

Other factors are the choice of engine (4.6L vs. 5.4L), gear ratios (3.55, 3.73, 4.10) and wheel sizes (17" or 18"). Transmission (manual vs. auto.) would be a factor if Ford had different ones for the 2004s.
