Lariat Tires

I have the LT 275 Goodyear tires on my Lariat Screw, with the raised white lettering on the outside (OWL ?). And I'm debating turning them around to the inside, as they are kind of a pain to keep clean... Has anyone done this, and if so do you like the look better?

Thanks...

My opinion is that you always gotta have the lettering OUT because it looks so much better. But you're right; the incredible amount of brake dust with the '04s makes that white look grey in about half a day. I don't remember the brand name, but there's a great cleaning product that I used to buy at Checker Auto Parts that really bleached those letters clean. It'd be worth it IMO.

the stuff we use is called Bleche-White. its basically just a bleach with the price raised because its made "specifically for tires". but if you use this, you gotta be really careful because it can bleach aluminum wheels also. keep ONLY on the tires or you may need to buy new wheels. or if you dont wanna use that just get some good tire cleaner and get a small wire brush and scrub them.

I'm not fooling with it now, but next time I get tires I'll be getting no white letters or getting them turned to the inside. The BFG tires on mine right now are a pain to keep clean and I rarely spend much time on it so they usually look dark. I'm not a big fan of the white letters. I think a nice black tire looks just as good in most situations. Personal preference of course. I just don't have the time to scrub the dang things all the time.

I get mine clean with a brass detail brush and the truck wash water used overall. Works great!

I use Simple Green and my pressure washer on mine, no sense in scrubbing tires when you don't have to

Statik -

That's good to hear, would you happen to have a picture of your truck w/black sidewall tires? My truck is black also...

Turn the white in!!!

The first thing iI did was turn the white letters in ( on the way home from the dealer when it was new).......the second thing I did was get rid of the tires all together, and upgraded to terra grapplers NO WHITE LETTERS

I think you will like the look much better.

I'm with and Statik and larry150 ... all BLACK tires! I've never had any luck with white letters on any tire. I'd rather not worry about nor have to try and clean it. Plus, I prefer the all black look ... at you can tell by my gallery.

Oh yeah ... and I swapped out for Nitto Terra Grapplers after 25 miles. I ordered them before my truck even reached the dealership. I wish I could have gone with new rims and bigger tires, but I settled (quite happily) with putting them on my stock Lariat wheels.

No, Lariat's do not come with running boards, etc. -- those are extra.

On a side note, I bought a black Manik grille guard at lunch today ... most expensive lunch I've ever had!!! They gave me "employee" cost at the dealership which beat their nearest competitor by $5 ... who was already giving me what he called "dealership" pricing (what he charges the dealerships).

I asked the dealership to reverse out the tires on my Lariat the first time I had it in, but they said they wouldn't because they are designed to face out. Sure enough, it was on the tire in print so I opted not to and just had to live with the raised white letters until I got a set of aftermarket wheels and tires on. I personally don't think it would be a big deal, but you never know the way things are designed these days...

I use Westley's Bleche White and a stiff bristled brush. Seems to do the trick for me every time without much effort.

Try this..

Simple Green and a scrub brush will clean those raised whites right up.

And simple green will not hurt the wheels.

Bad99Pony,
I agree about the Simple green. Most people don't know it but the self-service car washes use Simple Green on the TIRE/ENGINE setting.

Personally I kie the raised white letters.
