2006 Ford F-150

Since we pretty much know that the 2005 F-150 is the same (almost) as the 2004, besides DVD available from the start of the model year, and a little sound insulation - gone from the lower end models, WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO THE 2006 F-150 to make it even better... (GUYS THIS ISN'T A GRIPE LIST, BUT IF YOU WERE DESIGNING THE 2006, WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE???
*****
1. FX4 - Add FX4 badge on tailgate like Expedition... BAD ***...
2. All - Make the rear bumper not stick out and grab rocks... Make it flush.
3. All - Add the bottom grill in the front from the factory
4. All - Make the rear power sliding window have defrost (can it be done)?
5. All - A little more padding in the seats, they are great, but the FX4 are a touch hard...
6. All - Add fender wells in the rear??? At least coat the wheel well... Those rocks dinging it all the time make me wonder...
7. XLT, FX4 Lariat - Turbo Diesel Option?
8. - XLT, FX4 Lariat - Tune the 5.4l 3v from the factory a little more...

Anyway, thats just a little dream list... Any more??? Remember, if enough people want something, it CAN happen...

more Options

* option: use a full size slider (i.e. entire back window) that goes up and down.
* option: a smokeless model. No ashtray or lighter. Lot's of wasted space with these two items if you don't smoke. Offer different inserts for this area like the overhead rails.
* option: overhead bins above both visors for the models with a moonroof.
* option: AC power in cab (about 500watts)
* standard: incorporate locking tailgate into auto lock feature (i.e. all doors lock/unlock).
* option: factory window tint for the front windows.
option: more robust and feature rich auto starts and alarms.
* option: satellite raido.

* A true standard cab model - not the hokey extended cab that they try to pawn off as one right now! (I'm probably dreaming on this one, but hey - you asked for a wish list!)

* If they keep the current standard cab format, a system of trays and dividers that allow you to better utilize the space behind the seat!

* The option of getting the Lariat gauge cluster as an upgrade in other models!

* The option of getting the captains chairs and center console with shifter in the standard cab model!

* The availability of a factory-applied spray-on bedliner!

* And last, but not least, easy access to basic maintenance items such as the oil filter and spark plugs. I'm not sure how the current '04 is in this department, but I know from PAINFUL experience that earlier F-150 models have often been woefully lacking in this department!

They should make the 5.4 3v available in the STX and give it a tach too. Better OEM tires would be nice, as well as a storage compartment under the center 20% of the bench seat. I think they really need to get that 5 speed auto up and running too.

Here's mine:

-Factory spray in liner
-less boxy side mirrors
-smaller rear emblem thats not in the middle of the tailgate
-No tie downs on the side of the flareside (? the stepside one)

I don't have one so I can only comment from what I have seen. I think these would make the truck even more appealing...

Well...

-FX4 Tailgate Emblem standard
-Factory Spray-In Bedliner
-Better factory engine tuning
-Undercoat rear fenderwells
-Larger Rear slider (vertically, same size as rest of rear window)
-8 in. wide rims as to fit more aftermarket tires better
-Rear Bumper not wraparound, or recess more
-maybe pre-level option from factory.

Those are mine, keep 'em comin!

I wish Ford had offered the 5.4 in the '04 regular cab STX.

Maybe that will change for '05 and '06 models.

- Power seat recline and lumbar adjust
- Moonroof AND DVD
- Some kind of covering under the rear fenders
- Anything but the cheap, flimsy P.O.S. fuel door
- Overhead storage above the visors
- Lower grill insert
- GPS Navigation system
- Better AC performance

great ideas, all of you!!

but my NUMBERO UNO would have to be "get the engine out of the passenger compartment and give me more legroom"

especially true in SCab - have any of you removed the fan shroud? Good lord there's at least a foot of space to be reclaimed from engine to front bumper. I understand crumple zones, but I'd rather have more legroom while I'm alive

Lose the plastic fuel filler door. Yeah, it's a $21 part and it takes all of 15-20 minutes to replace, but either make it out of steel or make the current plastic jobber stouter.

RCA jacks on the back of the factory radio. I wanna use that AUX button, I think an MP3 player would be groovy.

Relocate the jack...yes, I know I can do this myself, but that stupid bracketry underneath the seat in a Supercab (haven't seen how it's set up in a Supercrew) eats up space.

HID headlights as an option. Rain sensing wipers would be neat as well...some of us shell out damn near $40K for these things, better lighting at least would be nice, even though the halogens ain't no slouches by any means.

I dunno whether it'd compromise the load capability of the truck, but see them actually roll off dealer lots sitting level without the rake would be nice.

Factory optional spray in bedliner.

I'd like a 5 speed auto as well. With '05 Superduties getting the Torqueshift trans regardless of the engine you choose, I don't see why it wouldn't migrate down to the F150 a few years down the road.

I think that's about it. I don't ask for too much, do I?
