Talking Magnaflow install review

Just finished installing the Magnaflow Catback SIDO Side Exit system p/n 15827 (lighting look) catback system.

Whole thing took about an hour, only required a 3/8 in drive and a couple of sockets.

Most difficult part was removing the old exaust (intact). The new system bolted up stright away without muss or fuss.

System looks good to me! Sound is good (should get louder as it burns in).

Mileage however will likely suffer from me stepping on the volume pedal!

Here are a couple Pics...

Looks good. Does it exit both sides of the truck? Also does the Magnaflow drone inside the truck when driving? I am looking for an exhaust but want the sound and performance without the drone.

Looks good! If you don't mind me asking where did you get it? I have been thinking about going with the same one. I have a Flowmaster on mine now and I like it but I just really like the look of the side exit (Lightning) Magnaflow. How does it sound from the cab? Can you hear it when you jump on it?

No it exits passenger side only...

As for drone I can't say yet haven't had it on the highway for any period. Will know tuesday when I commute to work.

What I know so far is, you can hear it at 55mph inside the cab, it isn't loud but it is present. But I was talking on the cell phone without a problem if that helps...

I write more after some extended highway driving..

I got it at RPM Outlet http://rpmoutlet.com/04f150bax.htm
$432.45 to the door... arrived it in 9 days .

Notice-able V-8 rumble on start-up,
at idle I can't even hear it,
sounds good on acceleration,
and yes it sounds nice when jumped on...

I also expect it will increase volume as it burns in my last magnaflow did...

Is it aluminized or SS all the way? Just wondering, I was leaning towards the Bassani cat-back with the Lightning style exit. I've had a Bassani on my Cobra since it was new and I love it.

For a system like yours, I was quoted $370 for SS muffler/tips, aluminized tubing and $479 for the entire package SS from Houston Performance.

"Lightning Style" system exits forward of right rear wheel with stainless steel muffler and polished stainless steel 3.5" tips. Available with either stainless or aluminized tubing. Fits both Extended Cab-Shortbed & CrewCab-Shortbed pickups.

Jimmer,
Was bumping this to the top to see how the system did on your commute (any drone?)... also is your F150 the 5.5' bed? I have the 6.5' and didn't know if the Magnaflow would fit...or if it made a difference between the 5.5 and 6.5'

Been ding the 1 hr commute all week.

Ok you can hear the exaust when crusing at highway speeds and the windows up.
No problem however talking on the cell phone or listening to the radio...

not annoying so far...

Side exit seems a little louder then out the back...

Jim

oh have the 6.5 ft bed
