Well I do have good news about for those of us who have gotten the error message.

I called Superchips this morning to report my problem and they were very helpful. Anyways I already returned it to them and they will update it and send it back to me with the updated tuner program. Not only that but if you include your shipping receipt they will refund you your cost of shipping.

So all things considered I think Superchips handled my case exceptionally well and hopefully it won't take long for me to get my tuner back.

Thanks for the update. Did they say what method of shipping they were using to return it to you after the update? (standard ground or overnight etc.) Maybe they should start asking the customers when they place their orders if their truck has been reflashed (if that is the problem). Glad to hear Troyer is being accomodating. Supposed to get mine tomorrow and my truck has been reflashed, so I'm expecting to return it. Does anyone know anybody that (with reflash) has not had problems?

Thumbs down

got mine this morn. installed 87 tune with no problems, thankfully. never had a reflash and truck was built in aug 03. all i can say is WOW! installed a volant and a magnaflow and neither made a big diff. but this thing is huge. shifts are vastly improved[ got a few 2nd gear chirps] and throttle response is instant. thinking about blowing off tiling my living room today[house in disarray, floor torn up,lines chalked] just so i can run out thi 1/2 tank and install hi perf. it must be awesome! good luck to you all who had problems but im sure they will fix it. its worth wait.

Well, my tale is almost the same as yours. I called Troyer, and they told me to call SuperChips. So, I did. I have an RA number and am going to be shipping my 1714 to them later this afternoon. They told me that their turnaround time for the update is "same day" with shipping back to me (overnight) on the same day. If they're busy, it might take them two days instead of one. I'm going to overnight it to them this afternoon. Hopefully I'll get it back before I leave town on Thursday. The tech guy at SuperChips did not mention including my shipping receipt, but I'll do that, too since you mentioned it.

whoever is having problems is probably just not reading the instructions and the BOOKLEt completely. read it and then work. other than that it could be your very own truck. i havent seen any problems with mine. and OF COURSE it adds power and firms the shifts isnt that what its for?

Uhhh? The book says to call Superchips. So does the tuner itself right on the display.

SVTErick-

The trend is that owners that have had Ford flash their PCM are those that are having troubles thus far, NOT that they are incompetent. I read the book word-for-word. Trust you me, the last thing I wanted to do was to send my expensive toy back.

Chill back on your specualtions...

Just ordered mine (I havn't had any PCM updates from ford) so hopefully everything goes smooth. Anita at troyer is very nice to talk to and what a deal they cut for us on these. I will most likely be buying more products from them in the near future.

Maybe in a couple of weeks I will have a new wrinkle for y'all.

I just ordered mine on Monday 08/02/04 and will be out of town all week so I said "no rush on shipping". Should have it next Monday 08/09/04.
The wrinkle is....I have not had a dealer reflash BUT my truck was built May of '04, so any new code should already be there. matter of fact my dealer showed me that my truck came with the latest.

We'll see
Best of luck to all, sounds like you're being taken care of

My truck has never been back to the dealer since I bought it so it must have the original program. When I talked to Superchips, he never mentioned the shipping receipt thing so I guess I'm stuck with the twenty bucks that cost me. The tuner wouldn't download my stock program. It said it wasn't the stock program. I asked the guy at Superchips what I was suppose to do when he ships my tuner back and it does the same thing. He assured me it wouldn't. So much for paying extra for next day shipping to have it now. 'Now' is turning into a week later and another twenty bucks.

I know this is off topic, but I can't get over what danosaves said - the magnaflow and the volant didn't make a big difference????!!!

That is the same set up I have and it has made a huge difference. You should take it back to whomever installed it, because it should have made a big difference. I am going to the dyno next week before I install the Superchips tune to my truck just to see how big the difference will actually be, but I am certain it was be AT LEAST 10hp (thats conservative). There is no way the 87 tune gave you more hp than the other two mods....

Don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I just had my volant installed and I am in awe of how it has lifted the engine up so to hear someone say otherwise seems odd to me...

just my opinion

ok now we can get back on topic.

The guy at Superchips mentioned the shipping receipt on his own accord, I didn't even ask about the refunded shipping - he mentioned it.
