Where's the outside temp sensor?
I'm taking mine in to have it replaced today and I'm pretty sure it's one of those sensors right there as soon as you open the hood...on the bar in front of the radiator. Is that where it is? I've got things to do today and I don't want them making me wait forever like it's some big job if it's really only a 5 minute job.
Well, it seems to be working now after they replaced the sensor. I was afraid it wasn't fixed because about 20 minutes into my drive home, it was still 6 degrees too high. Then finally it dropped down to where it should be
Maybe it needed time to reset and adjust.

The temp sensor is on top. It's completely plastic, has what looks to be exposed threads (plastic) and has a cone shaped/sort of pointy top. The crash sensor is sort of rectanlge shaped and more flat. I thought that's what it was...and I was thinking about the airbag thing myself. Was thinking how crappy that would be if I started fooling with it. So yeah, don't go experimenting with the truck running, pulling the connector off hoping to see the temp gauge go whacky and instead see your steering wheel cover blow off!...LOL Be careful. It's under warranty and it's a 5 minute job to replace the temp sensor. Don't screw with it. But I guess it's nice to know where it is for future reference, after warranty.
By the way, the outside temp gauge is right on the money now. Read exactly what the folks on the radio said it was this morning

I think mine is a little out of wack.
I jump in the truck the other day and the temp read 109'. uh, it wasnt THAT hot. after the truck was nice and warmed up, it dropped (slowly) down to 98'.
Think my sensor might be screwed up?

If it is obviously incorrect after you've been driving a few minutes, take it in to get checked.
