Thumbs down General Tires S**k

I have a FX4 SCREW with General tires. I had a slight steering wheel nibble when i first got the truck but since the dealership could not replicate the shimmy all they did was rotate my tires. Well the shimmy almost went away but now i have intermitent vibration that I can fell and see by just looking at my calf muscle while driving down the road. I think one or more of these tires has a problem and today i am not going to let the dealership push me around. I plan on going right to the service manager and demanding a in depth tire balance to either confirm my theory of put it to rest, but my true goal is to get new tires. These tires are just plan horrible and should never be put on a truck worth 35K. But thats just my opinion. I personally feel wamart tires would be better. Dont get me wrong though i rather have drive a ford with carrige wheels than a ram or titian.

Ditto the wimpy OEM General 255/70/17 tires...at 5K I installed slightly larger/aggressive 265 Open Country XTXs.

General Tires have always sucked. Shoulda upgraded your tire package right from the beginning. Good luck with the dealer!

Wal-Mart/Sams used to stock Generals!

I agree with you. That's what they slapped on my truck and they're terrible. I hope to upgrade after my Birfday.

General tires indeedily do s**k. I got them too. But i got an
excellent tip from Cincy F150 to have them road force balanced
on a hunter GS9700. That's when they'll probably discover you got a bad tire or two also. Nothing short of getting rid of them will
fix it right.. Good luck...

Generals came on my 99 Flairside. They lasted only 20,000 miles. I have Continentals on my 04 SCrew. I think I will be lucky to get 25,000 miles out of them. Then I will go back to Michelins or Goodyear.

Mine came with Hankook All Terrains on it and I am very pleased with them. Usually this brand has been a poor tire for me in the past but these are great offroad and on. 9100km and very pleased with them.

And?

Are you implying that all things stocked at Wally-Hell are junk?

I was just piggy-backing on what he said. I assumed that "wamart" was a typo and supposed to be "Wal-Mart". I could be wrong though...it's been one of those days.

I have the generals on my truck as well. I know the quality isnt there for them to last too long. As soon as I get enough money I plan on upgrading them. They aren't as bad up here in the summer, but come winter they are a serious pain in the ***.

Hmmm, on my 99' ive tried Goodyears, and Bridgestones and now im back to Generals (larger than the stock ones) because my dad's generals on his Expy outlasted both of mine.

So far I like them better than the other brands ive tried.
