I obtained the DRL module from a Ford dealer on EBay for a little less than that price including shipping.

Be aware, dealer installation is recommended unless you are comfortable with locating and splicing into wiring harness'. My local Ford dealer did the install for about $110. Took a couple of hours.

My truck came equipped with Daytime running lamps (DRL) from the factory.

I thought those were only on Canadian models and maybe some others...but not US models? Whatever the case, I'm glad mine doesn't have them...I can't stand DRL. If I had a GM car with them (separate bulbs), I'd remove the bulbs.

It doesn’t have separate bulbs; the headlamps come on with a reduced output. You can override them; they’re not mandatory. My truck was built in Kansas City 9-03 so I’m not sure why I have them if it’s not a US thing.

many studies have shown that DRL's reduce frontal collisions due to vehicles crossing the yellow line.

you may not like them... just like you may not like 3rd brake lights... but they due reduce accidents.

How do you determine that? Interview people at shopping malls and do a survey...."Uh...my name is Billy Bob and I almost hit a car by crossing the line but then I saw his lights....huh huh!"

False sense of security....imo
