and now back to the vibration...........
New update. Service mgr. called after I called the dealer. They put on new tires and balanced. The vibration is now between 45 to 55mpH. They a going to "roadbalance"new tires to see if the vibration goes away. Service mgr. has ordered "frame dampner kit"in case the vibration isn't all gone. Anyone have expericence with the "frame dampner" ?
Hopefully I will get my truck back fixed on Thursday?

In addition to my latest replacement tires, I was told today that the body mount & transmission mount kits had been ordered for my truck...along with the frame dampner kit. It's more than they have done in the past, but I don't have any false hope that it will work.
Latest update. New tires were put on truck and "road forced balanced". Service manager called and said it was fixed. Went to dealership to test drive. Before got off the lot the vibration was at 30 -35- mph. Took truck on road and checked the vibration had decreased somewhat but was still noticable at 56 -60 mph. Had service mgr drive and he verified vibration at 30-35 mph. I took truck to drive until next Wednesday. On the way home drove 70 mph on interstate and the ride was much smoother but when slowed down for 45 mph zone on secondary road and back up to 55-60 had bad vibration, had to press brake to slow down. Drove intown then on hwy and vibration back in th 55 -60mph range.
Will drive till Wednesday, Dampner is the next step and if that doesn't work the driveshaft is next.
Have been reading up on possible alternative action for next step in the above fails.

Just got truck back today. The frame dampner has been installed and on the drive back from the dealer( 30 miles) there was no vibration noted so far. Will be on trip this weekend to see if it is truely fixed
I had four new 17 inch Generals which were road force balanced installed on my truck two weeks ago. The dealer had the truck for one week, gave me a car to drive and supposedly had a Ford FSE involved. They were very decent about the whole process.
When I picked up the truck, I immediately noticed that I had a new low speed vibe above 30 mph which seemed to be coming from the rear of the truck. Things were definitely different. The steering wheel nibble was still there at 72 Mph and now this vibe from the rear that is new. The rt rear wheel has way more weight on it than the others but they claim the road force numbers on all four wheels are between 14-19. The original tires with 8000 miles were all in the low 30s.
They did fix my brake shudder/vibration by replacing the front rotors. I'm now waiting for a call back from them to decide what they want to try next. I love this truck, but like anyone else I just want it to ride and drive smoothly with no steering wheel nibble.

They placed the dampner kit in my truck today, and I can't tell the difference. I still have a bad hood vibration. The dealer is blaming this on my ford low profile bug shield. I also have a steering wheel nibble and my front seats rock, rattle and roll, in a bad way. How many people were able to get Ford to buy back their truck? and how many steps did it take before going before the DSB?

I feel for you all. I went through all this crap with mine. NOTHING fixed it. Check back the threads to see all the stuff I went through. Going to pick up the 05 replacement tomorrow. Good luck fellas.
think i figured out what was causing mine
Had to order a cambor adjust ment kit of rmy 2004. Also had the toe in/out fixed. HMMM still had the vibration. We spent 2 hours changing the tires from front to back, criss/cross and from side to side and finally found a setting that stopped the vibration. I now actually believe that it is in the Continental tires that came on the truck. Broken belts in the tires. I ordered a new set of Michelins. Should know for sure in a week or so. I'll post again then.
anyone had this checked
Has anyone had the cambor and toe in/out checked ?i was wondering if that would have an affect on vibration. If the toe in is out by 1/8 of an inch, its like dragging a tire 28 ft per/mile.
food for thought.

I had posted on this thread a while back about the vibration in my truck. As a recap, the following are things that were done to the truck.
replaced rear axel, drive shaft, tires twice to finally end up with Michelins and cab mounts. Several road force balance on the tires were performed before the Michelin tires. Had the frontend re-aligned also. Note that the vibration was gone as long as the truck was not towing. If I load a utility trailer with two four wheelers and hit the interstate, the truck will vibrate really bad around 68 MPH. I took it to the dealer loaded with the trailer and it was measured at 16 hertz on the vibe. If i'm not mistaken, anything below three or four is normal. My point is, even if the truck does not vibrate while it does not have a load, it does not mean that it will not when you put one on it.
Ford reps called last Tuesday to offer a replacement. I refused a new truck and will be getting a refund in about two weeks. The good thing here is I will not have to go through DSB or the Lemon Law.
Note to the guys that are putting new tires on their trucks. I did not pay for any upgrade of the tires. Ford eat that cost themselves. Do not let them fool you into paying for something that is their problem
