I had a 2001 XLT Screw with the off road package and loved the ride. Next up was a 2003 FX4 and there was a noticeable difference. It was a stiffer ride, but still very comfortable. As a result I went back to the XLT with my 2004 Screw and the ride is better (comfort wise) for me than my other two.

Lariat has the driver info center with MPG computer, turn signals mounted in the side mirrors, memory seats standard and Homelink to program in all your garage doors and arm and disarm your home security system. and only trim level with heated seats as an option. But it all depends if you want it fully loaded or the more utilitarian FX4. they're both nice. If the FX4 offered all that, I might have looked at one.

I love my Lariat but could do without the gold honeycomb grill.

I thought the Lariat had a smoother ride. Both the trucks I drove had the same tires (not the AT upgrade).
