FX4 or Lariot?

Can't decide on getting the FX4 or Lariot 4x4. My first concern is the stiffness of the ride in the FX4, since its suspension is different. I won't be doing a lot of off-roading.

Anybody driven both? Any opinions?

First off, prepare for a little thread flambe' due to your spelling of L-A-R-I-A-T.

Get what you like, go test drive both of them, the ride is different, but not too much. You can't go wrong with either.

I believe only the shocks are different (stiffer on FX4). The rest of the suspension is the same...at least, there's no mention of any other difference in the Ford material.

I don't do any off-roading, so the Lariat was for me. You can't get the auto temp control on the FX4 and the dash is obviously different. It just depends on your style. I sometimes like the more rugged look of the FX4, but for an every day driver, I like the more refined look of the Lariat. Leather is standard in the Lariat as well. Very nice seats (seat are the same in all models, only the covering is different).

Only thing I want right now is a better stereo. I got the base system since I was pushing it on the money with my wife when I bought it. She thought I was going to get something like an XLT...but I talked her into the Lariat because "this is what I really want and will make me happy". But a man can only push that so far....lol

I thought there wad a difference in the ride between the Screw and the extended cab FX5. The SCrew seemed to me to ride quite a bit smoother.

They’re both extremely nice trucks. Go shopping around for a good deal and test-drive all the models. You can’t go wrong with either one.

I do no off roading whatsoever and have a beautiful smooth ride. I don't notice any stiff ride or anything. I love the FX4 compared to all the other trim levels. It's got so much more of a bad-*** look to it. If you're getting a SCab, I saw a silver, flare-side, at the shore recently. It looked freakin' awesome. I'd strongly consider that if that's the way you're leaning.

visually speaking, other than the front grille, gauge cluster and carbon fiber, I think that is the only difference in the two, correct?

You also get the ETAC controls in the Lariat and a few other things. Check out http://www.fordvehicles.com/Trucks/f...ures/interior/ for the comparo of interior features, then http://www.fordvehicles.com/Trucks/f...ures/exterior/ for the outside!

This will be a tough decision.

My reasons for wanting a Lariat were: The auto AC feature, the styling, and the smoother ride.

My reasons for the FX4, the flareside bed (the tiedowns on the outside are nice), the exterior color options.

Both will get you through the dirt if you need it. It doesn't sound like you need the extra stiff shocks.

I've discovered that the interior of the vehicle is what is most important. That is where I spend all my time. It's nice to know that the truck looks good on the outside, but comfort in the key.

I bought the Lariat, was hard to decide but the lariat had much more standard items when it comes to price.

So the Lariat has a smoother ride?
