Lariat stopped by log
Lariat stopped by log
I was in Gatlinburg, TN (Smoky Mountains) and got stuck on a one-way, narrow trail by a downed tree. Fortunately we were still within cell phone range so I called 911 and they got a park ranger out there with a chain saw. I had a nylon cargo strap with me, but it was too small to move the log
I tried to use it, but I was afraid it would break. That's a shame because once I was in 4x4 Low, I coulda jerked that dead tree right out of the way
Oh well, I guess I'll have to buy a tow rope to keep with me for strange things like this.
I couldn't back up because the road/trail was so small and there can be other cars coming at any time - not safe.

Looks like the storm hit down there too. We had alot of wind and water last night.
I had my truck in water up to the bottom of the doors this morning on the main roads around here. Many areas required a chainsaw this morning, but the 04 made it.

Thanks. Log was about 24" in diameter...no bigger than that. Looks biggers in the picture though. Would have been very easy to pull out of the way. I don't do any off-roading, but I'm tempted sometimes
I love the camera (Nikon D70), but I need to get more familiar with it and learn more about how to use it to get the very best pictures it can take. That's going to take awhile.
They had some pretty heavy rains and wind down there, but nothing TOO bad where we were. Just mostly rain and a little rain. There were several dead trees down.
I just added some more Smoky Mountain photos here:

Just a few from a drive or two we took.
