Lift and wheels

I saw an 03 4X4 sport yesterday. It looked almost exactly like my 04 Heritage STX. It had a nice lift and some nice big fat wheels and tires on it. Looked great on a 4X4.

My question is....

How would that look on a 2 wheel drive? Is that a no-no to do?
I mean I know I dont have 4 wheel drive, but that looks sweet.

I dont wanna be driving something that people will look at and say, "what a dumb @$$".

Know what I mean?

I have seen a few guys with 4X2's that get the 4X4 or FX4 sticker and put it on the truck. Simple upgrade, and to the everyday-joe it looks like a 4X4. That's the first thing I'd do if I were you.

Who cares if it's a 4X4 or 4X2...if you're going for the look, why not complete it with the sticker? Since you really wouldn't use the 4X4 anyway, the look is cool.

I need the 4X4 and thought about taking the sticker off, or ordering it without one. My last 4 4X4's have been like that. I don't like the sticker.

There is nothing wrong with lifting a 4x2. I sort of wished that I had done that. I would have saved about three grand at the time of purchase, my insurance would be lower and I'd get better gas milage and I could have built it to look exactly like mine. In fact, lifted 4x2's are one of the fastest growing trends in the automotive industry. Several manufactures already offer lifted 4x2's from the factory (Ranger Edge 4x2, Toyota Tacaoma Pre Runner, Nissan Frontier Desert Runner) and the rumor is Chevy is gonna build a 4x2 Z-71. However, I wouldn't stick a 4x4 sticker on a 4x2. Nothing wrong with a custom decal however. There was a guy recently at FTW that posted a pic of a custom "FX2" decal on a 4x2 that looked really cool. Or get a set of the 2001 Ford "Off Road 4x4" decals and install just the part that says "Off Road".

Just don't try to sell it as a 4X4, or mislead someone interested in your truck to think it's a 4X4. If you are going for the look I think you are, the decal will be a nice touch.
