brake dust build up
i dunno, but there was a post around here somewhere or it could be in the FTW forum, about how to keep your rims clean using something or other to cover the wheel in, which will cause the rim not to eat up that black dust the comes from braking...
if i find it again i will post a link.

I installed a set of Kleen Wheels dust shileld on my supercrew and love them. I only had the truck for two days when I decided to purchase a set of them. They cost me about $70 for all four wheels. I decided to purchase all four to make rotating my tires easier. They do not come out very easy once they are installed on the wheel. This is the third vehicle I have had the kleen wheels on and love them.

That is a sharp looking truck you have...Very cool...
ConcreteGuy - Is is possible to get a close-up of the wheel? I didn't realize they covered the entire wheel. Just curious to see how it looks!!
Thanks in advance and that's a sharp lookin' ride you got there!

If you look closely at the wheels on my truck, you can see them. I think they look fine. You can not even really tell unless you are looking for them.
Here is a close up of the Kleen Wheels installed. The flash of my camera actually made the show up more than they do normally.
Concreteguy.. I have no experience with these in heavy four wheeling situation. These covers are metal but are very thin. I am sure if they took a hit with a rock they would dent.

The only problem I have with clean wheels is they limit the amount of fresh air getting to the rotors. I know they have vents in them, but nothing like getting full air flow to the rotors. These used to warp the brake rotors on BMW and MB a lot.

Have them on my wife's Cherokee and love them. Only truble was I thik the dust built up and made the ABS light flash twice. I sprayed them out and it hasn't done it since. May or not have been the cause but I love not having to clean 20 little holes!

I know that they are designed for each individual vehicle's requirements but, I'm still a little bit hesitant about them.

Why don't you just buy some new brake pads that aren't so lame? The pads that ford uses has the purpose of being quiet. Therefor, they are very soft and create a lot of brake dust. I spent Blackscrew's $70 bucks on some new pads. They aren't as quiet as the stock pads but with the A/C on or the Radio on you can't even hear them squeak if and when they do.
