Well, I didn't think that was too bad.

Of course, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Clearly the smoother, more refined, quieter ride comes at the cost of weight and performance. There are unfortunately alot of guys like me that need a more refined truck. I ususally have on a suit and tie and need to take clients to lunch, etc. OTOH I need something I can go fishing in and run honey-dos.

The Lariat interior makes a huge difference IMHO and would cure the rest of their complaints and make a clear winner. the 180* rear doors would be a ridiculous feature IMHO. I like the doors.

As someone who had a Cobra and bought a Truck, I can tell you the big selling points were, Interior Room and Cargo Room. Two areas the F150 dominates. If I wanted to go fast I'd have just kept my car, as it was already faster than anything but the new Cobras.

Althouhg, I bought the 5.4L with 3.73 LS but not to Drag Race. I wanted something big, low, and slow and I know that the 5.4 with the tow package will take more miles with less wear. I don't believe the SOHC 4.6 can drag that much weight around for 200k miles without issues, but, this whole race-car-truck thing is just stupid IMHO. No offense to Lightning owners but if you're worried about 60foot times or 60mph times you got issues a truck won't solve, buy the new Cobra. Colleti or whoever is in charge now is doing it right.

AW MAN....NOT again.

Do you know how many of these I have read? Titan - the new kid on the block, Chevy, Dodge - with its Hemi, and Ford - the best selling truck......we all know what these articles are about.

Bottom line:

PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

I'm just not able to contemplate the F-150 backlash that's going on with automotive rags. It's funny becuase the SAME thing is happening with BMW.... the rags are doggin' em for the new designs, platforms, wieght, etc...

Both are best in their class(es), and continue to pump out superior products, yet the trade rags put them on such a high pedistal NO company could ever reach. So then some other company releases a new product and it suddenly its the whip and topples the market leader?! Seriously people...

The entire media industry cracks me up....

Although I agree that the media plays favorites, I don't agree that BMW is a superior product. IMO, they are overpriced and the cost for regular maintenace is ridiculous. Don't even talk about replaceing a part not under warranty! $$$$$$$

As a F-150 fan and future F-150 owner, I LOVE to see articles like this - and so should you!

I know the F-150 is for me, and I'll love my 2005 later this year, but competition like this is great for everyone, including Ford. I agree with the opinion that Ford should have added a few of the extras that the Titan has and maybe write-ups like these guarantee that Ford continues to make improvements on future models. Maybe in a year or two Ford cranks up the HP a bit, or adds better bed lighting. We all benefit from this.

So take comfort in the fact that you own the best truck for you - the F150. And embrace 2nd and 3rd place finishes in these truck shoot-outs - we'll have a better truck soon because of them.

Talking

It must be tough if your not driving a Ford pickup.
That must be why so many people got their panties in a twist.

well. i drive a 98 supra TT.. which IMO is one of the best cars built.. both performance and Quality wise..
I'm on my 2nd F150 .. and LOVE them.. the only thing i could see me replacing it with is a tahoe or escalated (if i needed an SUV).. my next truck.. will be a ford.. and the one after that.. a ford.. i ddint like the titan.. how it looked.. how it felt.. i wish the ford had a 5 speed tranny.. but for my wifes use and mine this 4 speed is 100% perfect.. i think the ford is the BEST looking truck. and nicest interior... but hey i drive an import.. what do i know
d.

I got a new FX4 Screw, and I love it too!!!

I'm not going to lie, I test drove both the Titan and Hemi, and they indeed are much more faster than my 5.4L 3V, but It wasn't enough to sway me from my decision. The look and feel of my F150 was more than enough for me, and like I said before, I didn't buy a truck to drag race, that's what my car is for.

I do agree a 5-Speed transmission should be Ford’s next step for the current F150 to match the Dodge and Nissan in powertrain performance. Now if Dodge could just make the Ram with better quality or Nissan make the Titan less ugly, maybe they could match the F150 as well

By the way, I also own an import, a 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo. I can smoke any Titan and Hemi with it, not to mention your occasional unsuspecting Corvette, Camaro, and Mustang GT driver!

IMHO - for pure driving fun, you cannot beat a bimmer. While they are pricey and after the warrenty runs out it's MUCH cheaper to do it yourself and NOT buy parts from the dealer - the driving expieriance is unmatched. They really ARE the 'Ulimate Driving Machine'. I was skeptical until I test drove one - then we bought it. Still can't wipe the smile off my face from that first drive...

And for pure comfy commuting and light-duty work/hauling, you cannot beat a F150... yeah others are faster and lighter blah blah blah.. but the build quality, design & refinement I feel are also unmatched by the competition. The added sales pressure from the imports and the other Big3 automakers will always be good for the consumers!

I disagree about the BMW being the " ultimate driving machine"
most people who say that havent driven a supra or a Z06. I drove the dog crap out of an m3 and wasnt impressed... if handl well, but felt very anemic on the power wise.. the Bimmer is a nice car.. maybe one of the best.. but ultimate? far from it..

and i agree with the posters.. if speed was a problem.. i would buy a blower for the truck.. its a truck.. i bought to have a nice big safe vehicle for my wife that we can tow and haul with.. if i wanted her to go fast she would be in a z06 or an 03 cobra.

Ford IS the standard, PERIOD.

It is rumored that Nissan's latest advertisement campaign is a last resort before they stop building the titan. The titan is not selling as they expected.

And yes, the media can be bought.

I drove them ALL

I am shocked! I guess it boils down to personal preference - but I thought the Titan was a cheap piece of dung. Look at the numbers of trucks sold to date. I think that is the real measuring stick. Granted there wil be some out there who refuse to purchase anything other than "American". I'm one of them but most buy on personal preference I think. I preferred the F150.

Think of these type of articles in terms of a boxing match....everyone is trying to de-throne the boxer that retains the prize fighters belt.
