2004's on 20" wheels or taller

Gents...

If you have sported your truck up with some 20's or taller wheels, please post pics. I'm starting to see a few dubbed-up 2004's here in the DFW area, but not like you see on the previous Gen. I'd like to see some pics, so- Smoke'em if you got'em.

2KFRC:

Those tires look like Nitto Terra Grapplers - what size are they?? And do you have a lift or just the Daystar level kit?

LOVE that look!

Really??? Those are 35in tires! From all the reading I've done, 33in is about all you can squeeze under there with the daystar and not have it rub. I use this truck below (BLKBUTY from FTE site) as a reference - these are 18in wheels, 33in tires and he still gets a very slight (minor) rub even with the daystar kit. This is the tire/wheel combo I was planning on - but if you have success with 35s, I might give it a shot. I didn't want to go the body lift route - just a daystar. I assume there's a BIG difference in cost from the daystar kit and a 3" body lift

Anybody else have luck getting 35s on without an official body lift?

JD it won't be a perfect fit you have to do a little triming to make them fit.

2KFRC,

I love your truck! I want to do the same to mine. I was wondering, what exactly did you trim to be able to fit the 325/60/20 s ? I also have an 04 FX4 Screw with daystar.
I know you you 20 x 10 Welds, but are they the XTs (with 4.5 backspacing) ? And after all your modifications, does it still rub ?
Congradulations on your awesome truck!!

I saw that Protech sells a similar spacer kit (like the Daystar) but they have a 3" version. This *may* take care of the front end - they claim they fit 34.8" tires with no rubbing.

I don't know what I'd do with the rear though. Since the wheels don't turn, maybe no lift is necessary?? I've never seen a "spacer" kit for the rear and it looks like 2KFRC made his own. Don't know if I'd want to tackle that myself.

rubfx4 I don't have any rubbing problems.

Yes they are the 4.5 backspacing.

It's hard to explain what i trimed, but we had to remove the wheel well to do the triming ,so once you put the wheel well back on you have room to push it back. You can't see that anything was done as long as you do a nice clean job. You also need to trim the plastic under the front bumper. Hope that helps.

Awesome

Best looking 4 x 4's I have EVER, EVER, EVER- seen...
I think the big wheels on 4x4's with the big tires, are simply awesome....
I saw a Ram with the same set up, but I think he wsa lifted a wee bit too high.
You guys nailed these on the head.
