Vibration problem

I am sure this has been addressed, but I just bought my truck last week and I have a vibration problem whe I go over 35 mph. IThe dealer says there is a 4 step tsb, which they have completed step 1 on mine which is a damper kit. Does anyone know what this is or the other steps they will take?

Thanks, the dealer just called and said my truck is fine, that the other ones do the same. I'm so pissed. If there was no problem why did they put on a dampening kit.

Although there is no way I can insure the validity of the posts, I have read where other owners are complaining that some (but not all) dealers have said the same thing.

Luckily my dealer arranged for a Ford Regional Rep to inspect my truck, and the Service Manager and the FRR came to the same conclusion -- my truck does vibrate. Unlucky for me, a new driveline AND a new steering rack have been on order since last Monday, 4/26/04.

So, take the dealer to task. My suspicion is that the dealers are well aware of the problem yet continue to sell new F150s without full disclosure. Which, in my mind, is an actionable, civil offense.

Mine has been vibrating/shimmying/whatever since I picked it up. But I wonder, now that I have 5k miles on it if the tires are FUBARed from it?

It's possible.

Have the dealer schedule a ride with you to observe your complaint. Once the Service Manager acknowledges the vibration request that the dealer do a 'road force balance' on the wheels (tire and rim combination) under warranty . All four should be under 25lbs each, though it's better if each is under 15lbs each.

The dealer must own a Hunter 9700 or equivalent, some do, some don't. Most all tire stores that deal in high-end vehicles; BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, etc. offer a road force balance for a tad extra when mounting expensive tires.

My four wheels 'road forced' 11, 11, 11, 7 lbs with the Kumhos mounted.

If the road force balance doesn't cure the vibration then you are in the same boat with the rest of us disgruntled owners.

After I get mine back, I am going to rotate the tires, and if the vibes are still there, I'm telling them to do the "Road Force Balance" on it.

I took onne off the lot and it vibrated as well, even worse under braking. I think I might try another dealership.
