High Intensity Discharge lights

I was hoping to replace the headlights in my 2004 F150 with HIDs. Are there any available? I tried a google search with no luck. Then I want to Advance Auto Parts online and they didn't have any for it either. So are there HIDs available and I'm just n ot having any luck finding them, or do I need to wait for them to come out? Thanks for any help. Mike

I haven't seen any posts yet to indicate HID is yet available for the '04 F150. Try to be patient, they are sure to come!

The expense of HID is nasty, I have a Lincoln Mark VIII which just had one of the HID bulbs go out. I tried to buy one and found out it is a dealer only part. The dealer told me $226.73, this is for the "bulb", as compared to most 9000 series bulb's that can be purchased for around 10.00 - 30.00 per pair. Seem's kind of a high price to pay. I replaced some of the lights in other cars with the brighter "Blue" blubs, they didn't cost over 200.00. I'm not impressed with HID at all.

actually there is but i do not know if it is available in U.S.I do live in Turkey and I have installed both foglights and headlights H.I.D kits and they are so awsome hard to explain with words. It is made by a japan facturer i can give it is name if you wish .But i must also mention that the new F150 has some kind of a high signal output which we suspect coming out of PCM.This is like cellular phone and affects the peak voltage which causes to burn the whole kit so you must put addinitioal dividers to your kit in order to work it properly but at the end it deserves all now it is a much more good looking truck at night unbeliavable.

I was just looking at Sylvania's website (they make the replacement signal bulbs for the '04) - they have HID replacements for the '97-'02 F150, but not the '04 yet. To give you an idea of how much they'll cost, these are $499 (ouch!)

oh hell no. for freakin' light bulbs? i know what HIDs do and I have seen them all over LA, but unless you live on a completely unlit country road, you do no need lights that bright. and even on an unlit country road you can install some aftermarket PIAA or Hella lights for cheaper than that. screw HIDs. The Sylvania Silverstars are good enough for 99% of truck owners IMHO.

Can you give the name or post a link of who makes the HID's?

Thanks

I'm in the same boat with BrewMaster. I think I'd rather see my money go towards a good set of Hellas (or something like it) instead of the HID's...which I do like, don't get me wrong. But that much $$ just for bulbs... I just don't see myself doing that.

Cheers.

WOW holy COW...I didn't realize they were that much money.

I had HID with my 03 SVT Focus but never had to replace the bulbs in it. Well looks like I'm sticking with the factory bulbs. Thanks for the info guys.

Mike

coppertop117, you may want to consider the Sylvania Silverstars. They are brighter than stock, but not as bright as HIDs. And the Silverstars are about $35 for a pair of bulbs. not a bad price IMHO. just a thought.

The only problem is that Silverstars are not yet available in H13 9008 bulbs.
