The blue oval on the tail

I was cleaning my truck this weekend, as is generally the case every weekend, and for some reason recalled the early days of this 2004 F150 forum. I recalled the speculation and people posting every tid-bit of info they found prior to the release of the 04 F150. Then people started reported specifics as they began seeing them in holding yards, on transports, at auto shows, and even the few that started showing up at dealerships. I recall the barrage of posts about the bed being too high, the stance of the truck (some felt it too high in the rear), no light under the hood, and on and on. Maybe the most disliked single item initially was the huge, gaudy, out of place, etc., etc. oval on the tail gate (at least that is how it was described by many back in the May – August of 03 time frame).

Have we all gotten use to the size of the oval and now find it fitting for the size of the overall truck, especially the tail gate, or did this horse just pass away?

Wink

The blue oval on the 04 is perfect! It is very easy to ID the 04 from any other make or model from the rear. Yes, many complained about it at first, even thought Ford should change the color from blue to red, black, or whatever. Ford will be along time getting rid of the "blue" in the oval after using it for 100 years.

Thumbs up

I like it right square in the middle and can't imagine it back on the right side as it used to be. This is my first Ford though.

I think these trucks have so many GREAT features that it just gets over looked by the people who don't like it.

I too read many threads about the size of the "Blue Oval". But I did not let it persuade my decision to buy one. I have enjoyed this truck more than any other I have owned, and could not imagine going back. As far as the big "Blue Oval", I think I really like it. It seems to be just right for the size of the truck. In my opinion bigger is better.

I don't have a problem with the big oval, but just for fun I covered mine with a UGA "G" that I made. I did it just to be different and because I'm a huge "dawg" fan. I think there is a pic of it in my gallery.

I think the oval is great. It really stands out from the previous models. I found something to customize mine. God Bless Texas.

In the old days, not before my time, they used to stamp out of the steel, across the whole tail gate FORD. All the big 3 did it.

Yeah and all three looked TACKY

I hate any manufacture'rs name ANYWHERE on any truck

I know what kind of truck I have and if it looks so great then you don't need a label on it to indentify it

I like the new "Bull's Eye" oval on the tailgate.

My coworker who has a Dodge can't stand it and that makes me like it even more.
