Why the 2004 F150?

Lease was up on my 2001 F150 XLT Scab 4.2, did the math and in the end if i would of purchased it, the cost would have been the same as purchasing a new 04 F-150. (Its all in the interest rate)
So, the big picture is i am "purchasing" a new F-150 with more options for the same amount of money and when its paid off, my truck will be 5 years old, not 8.

My '85 Ranger with 230,000 miles (approx) was about ready to give out on me. I was looking at getting a 2003 F-150 and saw the 2004's. Test drove a 2004 STX scab and immediatly had to have it. Walked out of the dealership 2 hours later with my new truck I don't usually do 'impulse buys' but this was just a case of being in the right place at the right time. The dealer told me I was the first walk-up sale he had for the new trucks, and mine was the 2nd of 3rd one sold. Haven't had any complaints or issues at all. I LOVE this truck!!

just because?
Hi everyone really has been awhile since I have chated here. But I have been so busy driving my truck. Ya know the best part of owning one of these trucks is everyone looks at you. Pretty cool. Especially the ones in chevy's. haha anyway the reason I got mine your gonna love this one I was so excited they put the shifter on the floor. had to have one . silly ha oh well but I loved my 2001 screw to. and I also like the body style of the new ones a little better and the ride is great. I even had one of my husbands associates at his work ask him if he could look at my truck. Promising not to touch it though. Just wanted to see it thought it was very nice looking. Ya know what I said you can look and yes I know. It is very nice love that. sheryl

I had been needing to get a new truck. Even though my '93 F150 had 150K miles and was still in good shape I was starting to get nervous about it. I told myself about 2 years ago that as soon as Ford came out with an F150 with a real truck frame under it again that I would buy it. If it weren't for the frame I would be driving a Superduty(or the old '93).
The great looks, style and engineering were one hell of a bonus.

I've always been a chevy guy,
Actually was at a dealer to look at a Lightning, while waiting for the salesman I had a look inside a screw Lariat,
The interior dash layout, with the console shift, got me interested, then when I saw the dash of an FX4, I was sold,
with all the nice new features of the new f-150, I was more than comfortable with going with Ford,
Only thing I wish would be a little more pickup when I hit the gas, but it may get better with breakin, if not, exhaust and cold air intake will help out
Good job Ford

I guess I'll be the first one to admit to being a former sedan driver. In my case, my driving requirements changed. Driving a stick shift sport sedan in heavy traffic ceased to excite me. The sacks of concrete from Home Depot in the trunk made the tailpipes drag the ground. My kids kept complaining that the rear windows wouldn't roll all the way down and they kept kicking the back of my seat because there wasn't room for their legs. The car bottomed out on the rutted dirt road to my favorite paintball field. My wife, who drives our Explorer, didn't like sitting so low to the ground so upgrading to the truck was an easy sell. Why did I go for the 2004 F-150? I've had a history of success with Ford products; I love the looks of the new body style; I love the added safety and crash worthiness; and although the F-150 may get beaten by its competitors in specific categories I think it is the best overall pickup package on the market.

wwblueScrew, Nice post.
" admit to being a former sedan driver."
I hate to say it, but I've got a worse confession. I had a 01 XLT scab 4x4, and I sold it for a sedan. (No hate mail, please!)
Was driving 30k miles/yr, not getting reimbursed for most of it..
Anyway, the worst decision I ever made. Only one snowstorm convinced me of that. I still regret it every time I see an f-150 97-up out on the road. stupid stupid.
But, the new '04 f150, that thing is nice! I've been drooling on it at my local dealer often enough the dealer knows me by name. They are nice enough that I can justify dumping the car for one, and not admitting to any wrong-doing.
Anyway, the countdown is on. I'll get back into a real truck and be happy again. Nice 04 lariat scab 4x4, that'll do the trick.
