Gas Gauge Ghost

My gas gauge seems to have a mind of its own. When I start it up the gauge will show more gas or less gas than when I parked it, depending on it's mood I guess. Has anyone else seen this?

Go knock on your neighbors door and see if he has 'gasoline breath'.

I can understand less but sometimes it will show more. My driveway is level, it just seems wierd to me. My 2001 didn't do that.

If smelled gas on my neighbors breath I might offer him the gift of a lit match

Hmmm....

Thats weird. After you get the truck moving down the road, does it seem to balance out?

I don't rely too heavily on the gas gauge anyway.
I have a good idea what my mpg is.
I reset the trip odometer on every refill.
I use the total of my mpg times my tank size less a safety factor.
When the trip odometer says 300+ I get gas.

I couldn't tell you how accurate my gauge is or whether it was higher or lower from one day to the next.

I don't trust gas guages on any vehicle. I always refill at 1/4 tank unless I've owned it for a while then I'll go to just below 1/4.
