Where is the chip located?

If I WERE to upgrade my chip, where would I find this thing to access it.

I've heard it only takes about 5 minutes to pull it; so I'm guessin' it has to be readily available, right?

If you are talking about the performance chip and the truck is a 2004 it can't be done. The new style truck with 5.4 engine is not the same as prior years. The only computer mod i have seen is to remove the pcm and send it to a speed shop for the program change.Try a search on Troyer performance products for more info.

So, you have to remove the whole PCM and send it? I was thinking there was just a chip you pull out and put back in.

Your PCM is on the passenger side firewall. If you look at JohnandDars, thread, it shows a picture of it. A black box with about 3 large plugs. You take it off and send it in to Troyer Performance. I think you call them, they send FEDEX or UPS to pick up, modify, and send back. It is all in the cost (shipping). JohnandDar is supposed to post Sunday night after a weekend trip on how well the mod does.
