New STX Owner

Hello Everyone,

I just got my STX last Friday. I been reading the forums for the last week and already found out so much great information. I previously had a 2001 mustang. I loved the stang, but was glad to get out of it(kids revving their cars at me and cops always watching out for the stangs). The ride is so much different and its weird not having the interior rattling. I've got a couple of questions.

1. I'm not a big fan of decals. If I remove the STX decals, do you think it will detract from the appearance of the truck?

2. The dealership quoted me 500 dollars for their alarm system. This includes power locks(my truck doesn't have them), all the bells and whistles, also included is remote start. Is is a good price or is the dealership trying to pull a fast one?

Again, thanks for the great info and a great forum. Oh, have some pictures in my gallery.

Thumbs up 2004 STX

HI
I got my red STX supercab on march 24 and is a dream. Do not remove the decals that is the thing that will take you apart from the rest. The price for the alarm is right go for it or maybe do a little shopping around first and probably you will get it for $50 less

Saludos

Congrats. Now you'll have to get used to Dodge Hemi owners rev'ing next to you at the lights.

The dealer quote seems about right. And yes, leave the decals on.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats. Here are some nanners for you.

I pickup my STX on Monday, and I agree with aolivar about the decals.

Enjoy,

I like my decals, but it is a thing of preference.

If you're going to take them off, take them off now - if the truck is in the hot sun the decals will burn into the paint - especially on red!

You can always buy the decals and put them on at another time.

Do it on a hot/humid day or use a hairdryer. Have some kind of adhesive remover handy. Do NOT use a razor blade.

What about the F150 emblem on the front fenders?

Like this:

How would one go about getting those off?

Are they rivetted? I know the older models are.

Regarding taking off the chrome emblem, i have read in previous posts people taking them off by heating it up with a hair dryer, will loosen up the adhesive backing.

O.K.

So the F150 emblems are NOT rivetted?

I took my stickers off with a pressure washer, just get a corner up and they came right off, glue and all. Don,t take the fender emblems off there are holes for the alignment pins in the sheet metal!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the replies.

I think I'm going to leave the decals for a little bit longer. I think they'll start growing on me.

I saw a post from RickSTX in another thread about electric locks and windows. I think thats going to be the first thing I'm going to do. I'll give www.a1electric.com a call later this week. I think I can get the alarm, locks, and windows installed for the same price the dealership wants for the locks and alarm. Thanks again.....

i suggest going the aftermarket route. i got my alarm, power windows and locks done for $475 at my local audio shop. as for the decals mine peeled right off didnt have to use any Goo Gone or Wd-40 or even heat them up. the emblems have holes on the back of them so be careful what you rip off.
