I'm not disagreeing that aftermarket parts work...Christ, I've spent about 3500 on aftermarket stuff in the last 2 months! But aftermarket claims are always ALWAYS exaggerated. I wish they weren't though, cause I'd have a 1200 hp Mustang.

To me, it's not worth spending thousands of dollars on exhaust , pullies, intake, chips, blah blah blah for 25-40 hp. But that's me. Again, you guys can do whatever you want with your money.

I can respect what your saying and I understand. But, any upgrade to the vechicle helps. Once again I understand what your saying about exaggerated claims on parts. Lets go with the "split fire" spark plug for example. I remember awhile back they claimed to give your vechicle an extra 50HP. I cant see 50HP from pluggs and/or wires. BUT

a hotter cam, chip, exhaust, pulleys, etc will increase the HP, but not by HUNDREDS.

*am I in the right, or wrong?*

I may be wrong and am probably reading between the lines here but it appears that you are disappointed that the money you've spent on aftermarket parts hasn't delivered a Mustang that has as much H.P. as you would like. I'm one of those fools that has spent many times the amount you mentioned on aftermarket parts for various cars over the years. Of course from what you've told us and the number of times you have eluded to it I'm sure few of us have as much experience in this area as someone like you. One of my dollar wasting aftermarket parts projects yielded a 3450 lb. Mach 1 that turned low 11's in the thin air of Utah in full street trim. I've always researched my aftermarket parts carefully and make sure that I match the combination of parts I'm putting together, I'm seldom disappointed with the end result. Sorry it hasn't worked so well for you.

My recommendation is to spend absolutely the very least on blah, blah, blah as you can get away with. Of course your results may vary.

By the way don't worry about me, I'm know I'm certifiable.

What exactly did you spend $3500 on?

I guarantee you that for $3500 I could have you making alot more than 25-40 HP.

I think it'd be a bit tight to throw a super' in for $3500 (especially for this new engine) but that put in like 150hp. That ain't no chump change!

Not only are you reading between the lines, you are reading incorrectly through the lines.

I have never been dissappointed from a products performance because I always research and plan my mods carefully.

But I also see plenty of people that buy into the whole "adds 50 hp!" claims.

Bottom line is that mods work in conjunction with one another. I personally don't think that chips and exhaust can net you more than 15-25 flywheel hp, but you never know. To me my money is better spent on other things, expecially since I've seen what those mods sell for.

What exactly did I spend $3500 on? Well, here's about $2000 of it...and counting...

If you were dispppointed in what that engine put under the hood, then what does it take? Just curious

Disappointed?

It's not even in yet. I need to paint the engine bay first. Should be good for about 320hp...it's emissions legal too.

Actually, I built it pretty cheap, using as much used stuff as I could and searching for deals on new stuff. The machine work is what screwed me.

well, keep in mind this is a pushrod v8, I would imagine OHC stuff is more expensive...

Well, summit lists those heads for $1100, the Crane Engergizer rockers for $195, and the Trickflow cam for $140. That's bargain shopping too...
