Question Power or shorter antenna

Eventually, I will be leveling out the front end of my Screw, but I have a problem. Right now my antenna is taking a beating pulling into and out of my garage. I am afraid that after I level the front that I am going to whack that thing right off

Any ideas? Anyone replace or thinking of replacing the antenna with a shorter or power one?

I just purchased a 15-inch billet chrome antenna but haven't installed it yet. I'll let you know how the reception is. I got it from www.stylinconcepts.com for $27.

I believe they come in polished or black power coat colors.

I had the same problem with the antenna hitting the garage door so I bought one from here, http://www.antennax.com , $9.99 plus $5.00 shipping. Works fine and delivery was quick.
I am now going to order one for my wifes 2002 Explorer.

i bought a replacement antenna from Pep Boys for $9. It is the same style as the stock one, black with a wire wrapped around it, but just shorter. it was easy and the reception is fine. i don't like those soft rubber ones. they suck because they stay bent after driving fast. i am very happy with this replacement antenna.

Thanks for the info guys.

Did any of you need adapters or did it just screw right on?

(Yeah, I know. I said screw and whack in the same thread )

the antenna i bought came with all of the adapters needed. all of the ones sold at Pep Boys appeared to have several adapters included. They make it really simple, just grab the adapter for your truck and install it. It takes all of 30 seconds to do.

Question:

Does the radio signal seem to stay the same, better, worse?

I am thinking of a new antenna myself.
