2004 Wheel Specs

Does anyone know the actual offset of the stock 17" wheel? You would be surprised by all the mis-information I have received from tire and wheel shops in my area. Has anyone put 20 or 22 inch wheels on thier 2004? I would like to put on 285/50/20 tires and not stick out. ( I have an XLT without the cool flare that comes on the Lariat) I have seen 305/40/22's on a SCAB so I know it can be done. I also have been told a +30 or +35mm offset will do the trick.

Thanks for your help

The correct offset is 44mm. Have the new wheels balanced at least on a newer machine, capable of road force measurement e.g. Hunter 9700.

Check out my gallery. I just had Nankang 305/50R20's installed with 20" Motto MT100 rims. Looks sharp and they don't stick out hardly at all.

Thumbs up Nankang 20's

Very nice, they look good. How is the ride ? any noise from the tires. Let me know what you think. Do you know if the 22's would fit with no mods or lifts.

The ride seems to be a little stiffer but the tires grip the road unbelievably well. Not sure how they'll handle in the rain though. At least it doesn't rain much her in So Cal. I haven't noticed any noise from the tires. Seem to be very quiet. Not sure about the 22's. The front wheel well is a lot tighter than the back ones but I still have plenty of room with my 20's even in the front.

Does anyone know the Actual Wieght in pounds of the factory wheels? Preferably the 17x7.5 fx4 wheel. I'm looking to replace my wheels with something lighter and forged to reduce the unsprung weight and pick up some power that I lost with these 34's..

Thanks.

CLARIFY OFFSET

When you sat 44mm offset. Do you mean the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface? or Do you mean the distance from the inner wheel lip to the mounting surface?

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface. The distance from the mounting surface to the outter edge of the wheel (inside) is backspacing. I believe the OEM wheels have 5.5 inches of backspacing.
