I vote polished since there is only chrome on the truck. I would think brushed would kind of clash.

They match the headlights too.

nice, was the lower grille pretty easy to install, how many holes did you have to drill?

The lower is a bolt over. There was no drilling anything installing the carriage works. The upper grill is a replacement. I have the CW directions here next to me. If you want to see them, give me your e-mail addy.

stickersteve, email addy is bigairmaier@aol.com...thanks for emailing me the CW instructions, as far as the lower being a bolt over I didnt realize there was anything in there, I thought it was an empty opening(dont get my truck until next week and never noticed anything in there) I did notice on the part description they listed the lower as a bolt over while the upper gives you the option of boltover or replacement... 04redlariat, do you have the carriage works as well? yours is the replacement also but you still have the Ford logo, were you able to use the emblem from the original grille??? I'm definately going replacement rather than bolt over on the upper and you have me talked into chrome as well. Thanks for the input guys.

Hey Sticker Steve,

I am interested in the Carriage Works Grills too, are yours the bolt over kind or the cut the old grill out kind? If youe have to remove the grill, can it be replaced? or is it "cut out" permanently so to speak...

Also, is the Carriage Works Grill of good quality?( all slats are straight, finish good, etc etc)

Thanks for your help

Sorry... I am new here and I guess if I had scrolled down I would have had all my questions answered. I think I will buy the replacement model also.

I once got a fix-it ticket for not having a front plate here in CA.

But that was years ago and I don't know if they still enforce it.

O'h trust me, they still enforce it. Just not as big of deal when you got a nice truck Besides, it's free as long as your not drunk when they catch ya.

I bought the grill when it first came out. My only gripe with it was 2 of the holes that hold the grill onto the new brackets they give you did not line up. It was exactly one slat off. No big deal since I have the tools to do it, but was still a little annoyed when I put it on. I am guessing that mine was the only one like that since I have not seen anyone else mention it on this site.

The slats where perfectly straight and stayed that way as ong as it is centered in the surround.

I like the full replacement very much and is super easy to install. I used to install them for a living and was not looking forward to putting it on after doing the 97-03's before but I was very pleased.

bill maier,

Mine is carriage works as well, and for the emblem I took it off the old honeycomb grill and used 2 sided tape and stuck it back on the new one.
