Question Suspension Lift ?'s

I am in the process of purchasing a suspension lift for my 2004 Supercrew FX4 and was wanting to hear everyone's advice on what lift to go with. I dont want to go any higher than 6 inches. The three lift companies that I am considering are Skyjacker,Fabtech and Procomp. Skyjacker is my first choice for the reason that they seem to be the only lift company out there that offers replacement rear springs instead of using blocks under the factory springs. (Better ride in my opinion?) And they have a really good reputation. Now for what Skyjacker is saying as for releasing the lift "NOT UNTILL JUNE", That sucks!!! I just dont know if I can wait that long.

The summer is here and I already have my 17x9 American Eagle Alloys series 102 which look exactly like the Weld Stonecrusher, but a fraction of the cost, and I have my 35 inch BFG's. And I want to jack my truck up and enjoy it.

Now as for Fabtech and Procomp, they are supposed to have their kits released any day now. I just dont know if I should wait for the Skyjacker kit or just go with either Fabtech's or Procomp's. If anyone can give me some advice to my situation I would really appreciate it. This crap is driving me crazy!!!

Please help.
Thanks.

FYI.

Check out Ebay. I just came across a 6" PROCOMP for $1300 and this one with everything for $3000:

PROCOMP 6" SUSPENSION LIFT
PROCOMP 35X12.50X17 X-TERRAINS
PROCOMP 17X9 XAW 1879 SERIES POLISHED WHEELS
CAPS AND LUGS

I like the lift and the wheels are pretty good but I don't like the tires.

I don't think you will be dissapointed with the Fabtech or the Pro Comp lifts. I've read reviews on both and they seem to be very well made. The new issue of Off Road Magazine has a feature on the 04 Supercab that Fabtech built. If you buy this issue, I guarentee that you will not be able to wait to lift your truck.

Rancho has a kit shown in the March edition of Four Wheeler magazine. Like the Skyjacker kit, it features new springs and shocks. Advertised lift is between 2 and 3 inches. Does not come with rear add-a-leaves.

Skyjacker would be my first choice as well, they are only 3 hours east of Dallas, great company. I've purchased and installed their kits before and was happy with the product as well as their customer service. The rear add-a-leaf would tend to stiffen the rear suspension, when compared with the blocks, however it would be less likely that you'd have any sagging in the rear springs with the add-a-leaf. Usually Skyjacker uses a very long add-a-leaf which tends to have less negative impact on ride quality.

FWIW, there is a breakdown in the aforementioned March issue of Four Wheeler on the new lifts available for the '04 F150 and Nissan Titans.

Since I live in a city I am limited by the height in a garage, but I HAVE to get that 6" lift. What is the highest point on the truck once the lift is on. Currently mine is 6'4 I think but with bigger tires and the lift is it going to be under 7' ? Thanks

You can fit the 35's on just by adding a front end leveling kit if you want. That would be ~$110 versus $1700 for a full suspension lift. You'll get the same groud clearance with your axles, but still be able to fit it in the garage.

I've got the Pro Comp lift, and all I can say is that if your looking for ride quality, aftermarket springs are not the answer, go with the block on the Pro Comp. I have yet to ever see or hear of an aftermarket suspension that rides better than stock for ANY auto (That is, if your looking for comfort/quality, NOT performance.) But if you meant performance, and not ride quality, then an aftermarket suspension might be your best bet.

I know this whole front end level thing has been beaten to death, but I rather run with a full lift so I dont stress the factory fron tend components. For those who have lifted just the front, what wheels are you using with 35" tires since our factory rims are pretty narrow. I would go with Procomp for the overall bigger lift but I dont want to lose the roof of my truck in the garage. And doesnt the front end of level kit make the front of your truck a little to high compared to the back, (almost higher than the back)?

EddyG,
That is not the case, as I said the back is 3.5" higher than the back if you go with a 2" lift you're still in good shape. I didn't notice any change in ride quality. When I added the 35's though the ride quality went downhill. The ride has a lot more bounce (all that rubber acting like a worn out shock). It still handles better than my 2002 F-150 or my 1996 1500 Ram.

Well Eddy, I purchased some 17x9 Eagle alloys for my truck and with the Daystar lift and the 315/70 r 17 inch BFG All-Terrains it was too wide of a wheel . I do have a customer with the Daystar lift that I installed on his FX4 that purchased some Nitto Grappler tires that are similiar to a 35 inch tire and he hasn't had any problems what so ever. No he is still using his factory 18 inch by 7.5 inch FX4 wheels . I made the mistake by thinking that I could fit those tires on the wheels that I bought and they are to wide so now "I HAVE TO BUY A 6 INCH SUSPENSION LIFT " oh darn it .
