Now, tell us all why...
Now, tell us all why...
that you're happy that you bought a Ford and not a Dodge, Chevy, Nissan or Toyota! Come on, even tell if you're NOT happy that you got the Ford, and tell us why!
Ford: Already have a Ford, felt comfortable, have had a good experience, and that is what the wife really wanted.
GM: I have owned 2 GMC pickups, and loved them. We had a GMC Canyon crew cab on order, but when we got the opportunity to sit in one at a car show, we were disappointed with the quality of the interior. Still think it is a neat little truck, especially with the I-5 motor. Was also really looking at a 3/4t Crew Cab, really liked it, but wifey liked the ford better. She is the primary driver, so she wins.
Dodge: I have a Dodge van at work, and have not been 100% happy with it. 6 mos. old and it was having stalling issues. Didn't like the styling of the new ones.
Nissan: Small trucks too small, Full size too Ugly. I still belive that even though the truck is made in the US, the profits still go overseas. Unproven design. Not impressed by specs or the "heavy duty" equipment.
Toyota: Every Toyota I have ever driven was a pile of garbage, new or well used. I don't buy the "build quality" marketing claims. Underpowered, cramped interior (My uncle has one, I drove it) 7/8th size. Again, the built here, but profits go overseas thing.
Some people like to slam me on the no imports thing, but of my experience (Toyota, Honda, BMW Mercedes, VW) I have been unimpressed by all, and disappointed by quality.
I feel very comfortable with Ford and GM and I don't play one against the other, they are both equal trucks in my eyes.
I don't relate my self worth or social status to the vehicle I drive. If I won the lottery, I would still be driving a pickup, and chances are it would be fairly stripped down by most peoples standards.

For me it really came down to Dodge or Ford. I dont like the look or quality of GM (had one for a while and its cheap). As far as other trucks like Nissan or Toyota, I just want American when it comes to a truck.
The styling of Dodge and Ford are great and keep that "truck" look. I used to be a huge fan of the 4Runner and slowly it like all other SUVs went into a mini-van appearance, and I feel like some of the trucks out there are going that way too.
For me Ford offered the best options, best look and quality. Dodge had it beat in the power category with the HEMI but that wasnt enough to sway me. The Ford 5.4 has a lot of potential and can easily make that 350 mark with the right tuning and mods. I dont know what people are talking about slow! Anything that weighs 6000lbs and can move to 60 in under 10 seconds isnt exactly the fat kid on the block. Besides I really dont care who beats me at the light, its about how damn good I look there. The Triton puts out plenty and there is always room to grow.
Ford makes a high quality, good looking real truck. Sure we all have our little problems here and there but overall I think most of us would buy it again.

I have nevered owned a Truck nor an American made car and I am 33.
I have always choosen foriegn cars because of the look and reliability. The new F150 caught my eye because of the look and the features, it is actually a lot cheaper than the SUVs and stuff I was looking at earlier...

I had a 2002 Toyota Tundra. Bad brakes and driveline vibes...dumped it for a 4 door Tacoma. Nice truck, no problems but just too darn small. Looking at buying a F150 or the new GMC/Chevy 1500 Crew Cab. All this talk about Ford F150 viberation sbrings back bad memories.
I had my 02 Tacoma crewcab back to the dealer a handful of times for dash rattles, my wifes Chevy Trailblazer has been flawless. Test drove almost everything and liked the new SCREW better than the Chevy, Dodge or Toyota.
Jake,
With every car or truck you are going to have kinks to work out. Personally I havent had a single problem with my new F-150, not even the mysterious vibrations. I had a 1995 GMC Jimmy for 5 years and thats rated one of the worst lemon rides of all time, but I never had one problem with it. My father also had a 1999 Chevy Truck and it was cheap and damn near fell apart. If you are trying to decide between the Chevy and the Ford, think no more! The Chevy hasnt beaten the Ford in anything, its not even close. This IS a great truck you just hear more about the bad than the good because thats what sticks with people and what is talked about. The site wouldnt be much help if all everyone did was say how there truck was great ( I could start that thread if you want to compare good to bad
)
If you havent already take out one of the new Fords for a test drive and you will see what I am talking about. Its a great truck and I dont think you would be disappointed, even if you experienced the worst from this website.

Two things I don't like: takeoff and gas mileage.
My old '96 Tahoe (5.7L V8, 255 HP, similar weight) will smoke my 5.4L supercrew off the line. It also got 400+ miles on a 30 gallon tank while I'm only getting 350 miles from the 30 gallon Ford tank (save driving conditions). I hope the Ford gets better as it breaks in. As a reference, the Tahoe was rated at 13/17 MPG and the Ford is rated 14/18 MPG.

My choice came down to Ford ,Chevy, and Dodge also....My trad-in was an 02 Silverado LT extended cab 4X4...I drove all of the new year models from all 3 makers and there was no comparison....Ford was in my opinion the better truck....I have also been fortunate not to have any of the problems i read about on the message boards..My 04 Lariat Supercrew is perfect.!!
I didnt even consider Toyota or Nissan......Just dont like the look of them enough to even test drive one.....

Test drove the Dodge 1500 crew cab, it rode like my 01 F150 that i turned in, including the "bed hop" on the freeway when there was no load in the back. I just don't think the Dodge is up to the standards of the new F-150.
I looked at the Titan (did not drive it), when looking at it from the side, it just didn't look "balanced" to me, the rear wheels don't look in porportion to the rest of the vehicle.
I am very happy with my 04 f150 supercab 4.6 i bought in jan (mfg'd 7/03), i have had absolutly no problems with it to date.

Well I can honestly say I hated Fords before I bought this truck
I was a GM fan and had GM's and everybrand out there but never a Ford. When I got the go ahead to get this truck I decided that I would drive and research the Big 3. After doing my research and testing the Big 3 I went with the Ford.
The GM is nice but feels cheap inside and was harder to see out of when driving. Not to mention they are just plain UGLY.
The Dodge was higher up and the ride was third best but the thing that killed it for me was that I just dont trust there dependability.
I drove the FORD and never looked back. I have some minor issues that all vehicles have but the truck is Great and I would not trade it for the world.......well maybe the world.

Dodge, Cool truck but not my style. Plastic interior, buzzy motor.
Chevy. Cool truck. I've got a New Chevy SUV now and it's already ratteling and the ride feels like crap. Feels loose and has had 4 seperate oil leaks. Plus a noisy interior.
Nissan, Yea, right... Too ugly, small looking. My wife had a foreign car and I couldn't wait to get rid of that thing. Nothing but problems and this is a Honda Accord. Maybe I just have good luck but I had an 87 Buick Skylark with 200 plus thousand miles on it and didn't even change the oil!
Ford I've had good luck with ford trucks. They're just tough. I rail on my vehicles and admittedly don't take good care of them.
The ride, quiet cab, awesome handling for a big vehicle, So smooth on the highway. We choose to do trips in it over our "luxery" SUV. Plus it just Looks cool as hell!!
and the interior is even cooler.

I also had a chevy 2000,Z71,excab. The engine pecked like a thrashing machine when it started, and was worse in the cold weather, also had a dodge,7 times in the shop in 20,000 mile's and had to file a lemon law per dealer request. Freind's of mine had some ford's and I really started to like them, and liked the look of the superduty. 2004 came out it was a no brainer.
