Angry Engine Failsafe Still!!!

Well I had my PCM updated by the dealer and the truck is still going into engine failsafe mode! Has anyone here had this problem fixed yet! I am getting desperate and want this problem fixed badly.

Had mine checked for that again today. They gave me a copy of a service bulletin that says ford is aware of the problem and is currently working on a fix. Don't know how long it will take. I can turn the key off on mine and restart and it corrects itself. They reprogrammed mine 3-4 weeks ago and it doesn't go into the FSM as often now.

I also have to turn my truck off and back on and it corrects itself, but not always on the first try. It is just annoying because the truck runs great when not in failsafe mode.

Do you guys know what is causing your trucks to do this?

Hope you get them fixed.

Last Thursday they put in a new throttle body and I have not had a problem since,That is the fix that I've read about so far, so hopefully I'm good to go. Have them look into to that, that is what the engineers at Ford told my service dept. I am also waiting for the latest flash which should be out sometime this month. Hope this helps, good luck.

NotBigEnough did you just tell your dealer that you heard it could be the throttle body. My service dept. is not the best in the world. I doubt they would just change it if I told them to. By the way what dealership did you get the work done at. Maybe I could have mine call yours.

My dealer is Boucher Ford in Menomonee Falls WI, and the number is (262) 255-9010. From what I understand they got the throttle body fix idea straight from a ford engineer. Good luck. So far I've put on 200 miles since the fix with no problems, let's hope they got it right now.

Took the truck back to the dealer today and I gave them the info you gave me notbigenough. They called me an hour later and said they are ordering a new throttle body for me and it will go in next thursday. Hopefully my truck will finally be fixed.

glad to hear they're finally taking care of you. So far mine is running awesome. I just put an access cover on and picked up some catchalls. Now I just need to find some step bars I like and I'm good to go. With the new cover I've picked up 1 mile per gallon. which puts me at 14.7 miles per gallon which is still aways away from what the sticker said, but who buys these things for the mileage.
