Ford to make no more captains chairs???

Ok so I went to a dealer in Atlanta today and decided to again test out a new 150 SuperCrew while I was there. Plus all the dealers around here know that I have already ordered one. I told them upfront I wasn't interested in buying anything today.

After the normal pressure put forth by the sales rep and sales manager I was told by the Sales Manager that Ford was no longer making the captains chairs in the 150. He said that if I wanted Captain's Chairs I need to get one that was already made. He said he didn't know the reason why, but they would not let him order them in any other fashion but bench seat.

Well, naturally I didn't take this very well. First of all I don't know if he is lying or if the order I made on Feb 6 is not going to go through. I didn't get home in time to call my dealer today and now I am pretty stressed out. I am hoping this was just a very unprofessional way for him to try and sell me a truck.

Your thoughts??

They are soooooo full of crap.

Any chance you're young? No offense, I am 26 and this was my first new truck purchase. I tried to play it cool, but they read me like a pop up book. Thank God I had the X-plan working for me...it didn't leave them much wiggle room. If Ford quit making the captains chairs, I am sure they would lose a handful of buyers. I personally don't care either way, but you have seen some people (some of them here) that are very particular about their trucks and what they want in them. And they should be...it's not chump change we're talking about.

Keep this in mind...salesman are out to make a sale. It is obviously better for them to move their inventory than to place a special order. Don't get me wrong, I have respect for them, they have to put food on the table too, but sometimes they can stretch the truth just a little too far.

I dealt with a great dealer in Buford. I know you have a truck on order, but if you have anymore problems, let me know. I'll give you my liar's, uh, I mean salesmans phone number.

The only thing that I can think of that may delay the order would be some kind of a hold on the seat (design flaw, backorder on parts), but even that is a stretch.

I can't believe they told you that. Just out of curiosity, which dealer was it? You don't have to give the name if you don't want to. Just give me a city.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME IT WAS GPF. THEY ARE CROOKS!

Ok yes I am only 25 and I have the X-plan but they didn't need to know all that because I wasn't buying from them anyway. I would like to think that I handle myself pretty well with the dealers afterall I bought my wife's 03 Explorer for 1250 below invoice including a 500 Owner Loyalty rebate. And no there was no trade involved so they couldn't hide any more cost there. That was definetly a better deal for me than the xplan. The dealer I bought the xplorer from was here in Macon. They just seem to be more willing to sell for less and try to push more volume.

The dealer is Frank Jackson's World Ford in Sandy Springs. I must say this is not my first bad experience with them. I bought my current truck there when I lived in Alpharetta. Ok first they told me that my trade-in a 94 Ranger was not listed in Nada. Which is funny caused I had printed out what Nada quoted on my truck which I got from a link from the dealer's website. I just handed it to him and laughed. Then he promised me that there would be no hidden fees like doc prep, etc. that some dealers try to use. Well after I agreed on a price I haned him a $400 college rebate. Well once I got home I realized there was a $400 dealer handling fee on my paperwork. I was so pissed, but decided to let it go because it probably wasn't worth the hassle. I still gets under my skin. Ol well you learn from your mistakes.

Needless to say this dealer doesn't have a good rep with me and the only reason I stopped by there today was to inquire about cancelling my extended warranty before trade in. Once that is complete they will never see me again. Ever....

If I do find out that they lied to me again, I will be filing a compliant with the regional Ford rep and the BBB.

The dealer is full of crap.

You can go onto ford.com and build all the captain chair equipped F150's your heart desires.

Enough said. World Ford moved into Georgia and started buying up dealerships that were owned by individuals (Frank Jackson, Jim Tidwell, theres another one in Snellville, but I can 't think of the name, etc.). They are all going through a HUGE restructuring. World Ford keeps the individuals name affiliated with the dealership for a while and then drops it to just "World Ford" (like the one in Snellville). Your guess is as good as mine as to why they keep the name for a while...to keep the customer base??? I deal with all of their body shops ALL OF THE TIME, and they are constantly hiring/firing people to find the mix that works best. I guess they'll come around eventually!???

Run away from that Atlanta dealer as fast as you can!!!

If they're going to feed you that BULL S**T, then they're going to screw you at every turn they can! The day Ford quits putting Captain's Chairs in their trucks is the day Ford closes its doors forever! PLEASE! Give me a freakin' break. I'd pop that Sales Manager just for suggesting such a thing ... much less trying to dupe you into buying that day. It's bad enough that he picked such an obvious falsehood to propagate! RUN!!!!

I am glad you didn't take me seriously. BTW, I lived in Alpharetta from 2000 - 2002. Corner of State Bridge and 141.

Strange.....

I went to my dealer and he told they weren't making trucks with tires anymore. Said if I wanted tires I had to buy something off the lot.. NOW!

To answer the question in this post about screwbuilder.... yes he works for Ford int he KC plant where Screws are built. He was very helpful to the members of this board in the early days, actually starting prior to the release 04 F150s.
