Hey trublu, I bet you own a cell phone right? We'll you probably did not grow up with one, but you have one now because it is very convenient! I think what he means is it would be a cool option to have. Ford puts it on the list as a option and then with no reason puts a halt on it. It's not something you HAVE to have, just something that makes life easier

Nope I don't. But I was a kid for a long time and I don't remember any DVD players in my parents Chrysler station wagon. Hand your kids a book and tell them it's daddy's car. I personally wouldn't want to listen to Barney in my F150 anyway...

Books are great...for kids that are old enough to read. I wouldn't want to listen to Barney either, but a lot of DVD systems for vehicles have wireless headphones so that other passengers don't have to listen to what's playing. If the technology is there, use it.

first time I disagree with you trublu---I have always agreed with your arguments, but not here---also, when you dont have kids, dont say what you would do and not do when you have them,,because I guarantee you, you will change your thinking when you have them---You will LIKE barney a whole lot more than you ever thought you would--

Easy guys jesus....

I'm just trying to help kats make the right decision and buy the F150! I wouldn't feel right if he bought a Durango or, god help us, a minivan just because it has a DVD option. It's my civic duty!

By all means buy exactly what you want. I personally wouldn't let a superfluous luxury option like a DVD be a deal breaker though.

DVD players belong in soccer moms minivans, not pickups.

There, I said it.

The closest Barney would get to my truck is bouncing off the front bumper when I hit his fat, furry purple butt doing sixty.

I went to the dealership yesterday and they had a white/dsg two tone fx4 that was very nice. It did not have the audiophile, reverse sensing, or dvd system. I am thinking of buying this one and adding an aftermarket dvd system.

Does anybody know if you can add the reverse sensing system on at the dealership? I asked the sales manager and he didn't know He said he would look into it and call me back.

Thanks for the help.

thank you. that needed to be said.

kats, to be quite honest, the reverse sensing system is one of the few things i would not be without in my truck. sure the audiophile is great and a DVD system will help with the kids, but do not go without the reverse sensing system. it is fantastic and makes the truck so much easier to drive in tight spots, of which there are a lot here in LA. there are aftermarket systems, but they are not molded into the bumper. i'm sure they work great, but they are a different set up.

Yeah, yeah, whatever, If I had no kids I would probably say the same thing,, but it really is great--took it on a trip last weekend and it works great---They can play the DVD's and listen to them with wireless earphones--or they can listen to a CD that is up front in the 6-CD changer and you can listen to the radio or vice versa without bothering each other---the only thing you cannot do is you cant both listen to a different CD---It also has the hook up for Playstation or XBox as well--Playstation 2 worked great in there ---It really is a sweet system that works great----Also,, now I can take my new truck on a trip instead of wife's minivan---that sounds like a win-win situation in my book

So Kats, I am sure they have aftermarket systems that can do all this---but I love the way this is integrated---if you dont listen to the movie, you just hit numbers 2 and 4 on your radio to do dual play for their earphones---the remote works great because you just point it towards the back window and it reflects back to the system---seriously, it is nice---it is extremely easy to work even while you are driving----plus, I love the ability for them to play CD's with earphones while you can still listen to the radio, this will be great when they get older---maybe the aftermarket do this,, just make sure

I am still very torn. I really want the integrated factory system, but now my dealership is telling me that they are getting information from Ford that the trucks might NOT start being built in March, like stated before. Still no word on the reason...supply problem or defect found (I am guessing supply from what I have heard)

So, my dealership is telling me that because so many orders are in for trucks with the dvd system, and there is no eta on when they will start to be built, I might not get my truck, realistically, until possibly June

A quote from me dealerships sales manager........ "who knows, they might not build any trucks with the dvd system if they cannot work out the current problems they are having".

They have nothing on their lot that has what I want, so I asked them to search the state for a truck that is comparable to mine, except for the dvd of course. They found a few yesterday and emailed me the information sheet. A few looked promising, so I asked them how can I set up a test drive? Their response: "you cannot test drive the truck until you buy it. The other dealerships in the state will not release them until it is paid for" When I told them I refuse to buy any vehicle w/o test driving it first, they said "why, just come down here and test drive a different FX4 Screw and you will know what it drives like".

I don't know what the heck to do. I am getting soooo frustated. Nothing is working out well in this situation.

Also.........

They still say that they will only give me the $1120 that I would have paid for the dvd entertainment system (x plan) and put that towards a purchase/install from a local stereo shop for an aftermarket piece. A comparable dvd system through them (and still does not have all the features of the intergrated one) will cost $2300 installed.

So, my dealership wants me to pay an extra $1200 to get an aftermarket system which does not have all the features the stock one has (but, it does have a better screen > 10" higher resolution)

kats, I have a suggestion for you. If they will not let you test drive the vehicle before you buy it, then find a new dealer. There is no way in heck I would buy a 40K truck without test driving it.
