Unhappy Now my truck won't be here until May possibly

Well, finally got some information from Ford that is useful.

They have stopped production of trucks with the dvd entertainment system because of an "unknown" reason. They will not start up production again until sometime in March. Because of the huge amount of orders with the dvd system I will probably not see mine until late April/early May.

My dealership offered to install an aftermarket dvd system in one of the trucks on their lot, but I want MY truck, and I want the intergrated dvd entertainment system. They would give me the credit of what I would have paid for the Ford system and let me use that towards an aftermarket one from a local stereo shop. The local shops are telling me that their systems cost TWICE as much as the factory system, and most are RF modulated. NO WAY!!

Right now I am leaving my order as is, and will wait and see. I don't know if I want a new truck anymore because of all this cr@p I have been put through.

Sorry so long, but I am one un-happy camper.

So, if anybody has ordered a screw w/dvd ent. system recently, you will be waiting a long time to receive it!

No, but I was truck shopping yesterday and they had 3 F150's on the lot with the DVD system already on them. I believe they were the OEM factory system, and the dealership was offering $5000 off MSRP, but no $1000 factory rebate because they were Supercrews.

Have you checked to see if there were any unsold units with the DVD system on dealer's lots that you may prefer over a ordered truck?

I live in Arizona......

I have searched ALL of Arizona, California, New Mexico, etc. and have not found 1 with the Dvd factory unit.

Supposedly, only a very few of the F150's got out with the dvd system before the production was halted.

Whoa, I just noticed you are from San Diego. I just called every dealership I could find in the San Diego area and none of them had F150's with dvd systems. I visit San Diego often, and i would definitily drive there to purchase one with all my requirements.

Please, let me know what dealership you were at that had those trucks.

Thanks!

Sorry Kats, I was told by a salesman that it was a factory unit. But after speaking with Robert (new car sales manager) at Mossy Ford in San Diego, the DVD systems I saw were aftermarket.

Due to late availability, there are no factory DVD systems available yet. The ones on the dealers’ lots are aftermarket with 6.8" thru 10" screens.

Unfortunately, they cannot be installed on Screws with the rail systems, only moonroof equipped units. There is currently no aftermarket system that fits into the stock rail system, only the moonroof trucks without the rails.

Why? They would only have given me what I would have paid for the dvd entertainment system (approx. $1125 with x plan) towards another from a stereo shop. The shops wanted $2300 installed for a system that was RF and had a under the seat dvd player, and a 10" screen (which I know is better than the factory 7") I'm not paying over $1k more for Fords mistake.

It would be a shame for you not to buy this truck just because you can't get the DVD player in it. Watch DVD's at home dude.

I probably will go through with the purchase, but I am so frustrated with the whole situation.

I more than likely would be ok with the situation if my dealership offered some type of compensation, or even an apology, but I have not received either.

When my truck finally does arrive (hopefully this year ) if the dealership does not offer some serious compensation for my waiting I don't know what I will do.

DVD for F150

Well, I was never planning on getting the OEM DVD because I wanted to get a moonroof and when I orded my Truck on Saturday they told me that DVD installs from Ford where taking some time...

I am going to buy a dual headrest system and install myself when it gets here.

Matt

Hi kats, I understand you're frustration...but don't you think that the factory delays are beyond you're dealership's control? I'm sure they want nothing more than to be able to deliver your vehicle to you and complete the sale.

I've seen several posts where people want to get something from their dealer because of the delay. I would understand if the dealer messed up and caused the delay, or made a promise that it would be delivered by a certain date, but otherwise they aren't responsible for the factory's production.

In no way do I intend this to be adversarial, I just don't think the the dealerships should be held responsible for all problems.

Peace,
John

Nope I don't. But I was a kid for a long time and I don't remember any DVD players in my parents Chrysler station wagon. Hand your kids a book and tell them it's daddy's car. I personally wouldn't want to listen to Barney in my F150 anyway...
