Did you ever install yours? I had almost forgotten about this thing and found it yesterday. I am going to try and install it this weekend. I'll take pix.

Screwdrive-

Any problems to report?

I can't wait to get this thing installed.

OK boys

This thing is really starting to **** me off. I have everything hooked up, wires run, etc, but the damn pin keeps getting in the way. I have bent this thing nine ways to sundown and it still doesn't fit right. when it's in the unlock position, its getting in the way of the actuator and won't allow the handle to open the gate. I don't see anyway possible for the middle hole to be right for the 2004 model. The middle hole is a better fit, but even then, the unlock position will not allow me to open the tailgate.

Of course, Truck gadgets is closed right now. I am leaning here for help. Anyone?

I have a 9/16th wrench and a can of WD-40 in the garage. Will that help you out?

tuff, you might have the wrong part. they sent me one with the right # on it but it was mislabled. does yours have an extra little notch in the u part? i messed with mine until i got frustrated and put it back together but i forgot to reattach the rod and shut my tailgate. you guessed it im locked out. i have a tool box and a cut down truxedo so i couldnt in. had to empty my box, onbolt it ,lift it out and crawl in under the cover to access the thing and open it by hand.totally sucked and still waiting for right part.

I think that I am about to modify this thing a little. It's on the verge of driving me to drinking!

This notch is not big enough...

It grabs one of the latches in the unlock position. I am going out to cut on it now. I'll let yall know if it works.

You see, I would've but, I noticed that you didn't edit out the machining marks that are in the metal piece. A quick Pshop job would've taken those lines out and then, and only then, would you have received a:

LOL!

Does this actually lock the cylinder or does it just cause the handle not to go up? I'm looking at getting one but I don't want a Piece of junk installed on my truck either. Any additional info maybe some pictures of installs on your trucks would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It works really well. When the tailgate is closed and the lock engaged, you cannot lift the handle. It's made of very strudy material, it just has some minor design flaws that they need to work around.

So what you are saying is it doesnt turn the lock it just prevents the handle from lifting. Because when the tailgate is key locked you can still freely move the handle.

I havent taken the tailgate apart yet so I dont even know the inner workings of that yet. Just trying to get all the info I can before I say "yea I want one of those". Thanks

That's right. It really just stops you from being able to operate the handle. It kind of 'jams' it locked. If you lock your tailgate on a regular basis, it's worth getting one.

Just like any lock, it keeps the honest people honest.

Tuff since you seem to be knowledgeable (and it looks like you are online still) What is the difference between the regular $60 and the $90 I understand the Normal Vs. "High Security" but what exactly is the difference? Thanks again.
