Question Is this site legit for getting a pioneer or alpine dvd unit for my 2004 F-150?

After I saw bfab’s thread and several other threads about getting an alpine or Pioneer dvd/nav unit in their F-150’s I decided that I will get one put on my F-150 too. I was searching e-bay and found some free info about a site that for $80 will get you a Pioneer AVH-p7500dvd. But they use something called a “matrix cycle,” which is basically a waiting list as far as I understood it. Has anyone used their site or a similar one before? I just want to get some feedback before I put up $80. Here is the site:

hell no they are not legit! read the fine print at the bottom of the pages. it says:

"Please understand that you are not buying this product from us, or paying for an entry into the matrix for this product. You
are buying from us, and your spot on the matrix is a free gift from us. Please read the FAQ page for terms & conditions of purchase."

That is just asking for trouble to give them any money. Stay away, far far away.

it's basically a pyramid scheme, but they try to make it legal (not sure if it is or not) by selling you a product, such as e books or whatever, I didn't click the link to find out because it's a waste of time. Go to Yahoo shopping and type in the model # of what you are looking for. Buy from a vendor that has at least 3 1/2 stars and you'll be fine. I found a place to buy my Pioneer head unit on Yahoo, I think it was called 5 star car audio. I received my order 2 or 3 days before I thought I would, they were great to deal with. And it wasn't a scam.

Ya know, how b.s. companies like this and the people behind them can manage to stay out of jail is a mystery to me.

Read the FAQ on the site.

Its obvious they have had alot of legal problems. And yes, contrary to what they say in the FAQ, they are a pyramid scheme.

They just got a lawyer to disclaim everything with the eBook b.s..

Another interesting thing, try to cut and paste something from their FAQ disclaimer page.

There has been alot of crap like this going on in Ebay and its getting worse lately. The latest scams are the "Authorized Buyers by Private Email" crap. You'll see a product (the ones I have seen are motorcycles) priced at about half their market value at the "Buy Now" price.

What these dirtballs do is require an "Escrow" company to do the transaction. You send a bonifide cashiers check to the "escrow" company and then they ship the bike via your carrier, right?

Wrong. There is no bike. The "Escrow Company" is some dirtballs shell company that his old lady runs, they get their "down payments" until Ebay shuts them down and they are gone.

They prey upon the naive and/or greedy.

Caveat Emptor Fellas...

Dont do it. Its a pyramid no matter what they say. For the $80 or $100 dollars you are talking about you will get a book, not the player you are looking for. Read the FAQ page and read between the lines. Nothing in life is free, if you want the player do a search for a reputable dealer and pay a reasonable price. You will have the player you want and be happy. Otherwise you are just looking for grief

There are lots of people selling lists of drop shippers and wholesale outlets too. You pay $20 for the list. Then you call the drop shipper or wholesaler and they won't sell you anything because you don't have a business license. ebay scum must die!

Holy cow, I almost just bought a Hayabusa from a guy who says he lives in Seattle, however in his ad on cycletrader.com he says the bike is in New Hampshire. I emailed him for more info, he even provided pics. The bike is in perfect running condition and looks perfect too. He even sent me a link where I can send the money which happened to be www.internationalbusinessbureauservice.com who is located in London it says.

After I saw this, the deal felt fishy. I mean I was getting a bike that is worth around $8,000 for $3,000 including shipping. I knew this sounded too good to be true. Thanks for the heads up blitzkrieg. How did you find this out anyway?

Thanks for the info, guys. I guess I will look around for the best price on a DVD unit from a respectable dealer. Anyone have any info on the lowest prices on the net to buy a unit from?

Try www.hookedontronics.com. I ordered my alpine head unit and kicker subs from them. Their prices were reasonable and shipping was fast. Also if anyone orders the sub box from subbox.net be advised that any subs with a mounting depth of more than 5" will not fit. My kickers were too deep.

Well, its kind of a strange tale, but here goes....

I have a friend on my motorcycle website who lives in Ohio, and low and behold about a year ago HIS zx-12r was for sale on Ebay. We all recognized it because the pictures were his, same carbon fiber details, same tires, etc...

Only problem was he wasn't selling it and it was listed for sale out of California.

Long story short - it was a scam where somebody had pilfered pictures of his bike from our website and used them on the Ebay ad.

These scams usually follow the same storyline - send a cashiers check to an "escrow" company and the bike is yours! Usually the buy it now price is well below wholesale, often for a price a wrecked bike would sell for or less.

As I said - Caveat Emptor!
