Question Remote Start

Anyone installed the factory remote start system on there truck themselves? If you have does it have instructions and if you could give me any pointers.
Thinking of getting the $270.00 version.

Thanks,
Mark

GotTorque, do you have the two way FM remote start system that signals back that your vehicle is running? Is it programmable to start what ever time you enter on the remote? I've been eyeballing one that claims to have a range of 5,000 feet? Also claims to be made in Canada, but I'm betting it's really made in China. Advertised price not installed is $199.00

I am not sure if my system signals back if the vehicle is running, but I am going to tinker around with it a bit more this weekend. As for programming, I like mine since it gets extremely cold here during the winter months, and since it does I got one that you can set when you want your truck to start. Now this one isn't timed by a clock per say, but you program the number of hours you want your truck to start by. I have mine set so that when I press and hold the stop button, I wait until the lights flash and that shows that the timer is set. Mine is set to start every two hours once implemented. Mine is supposed to have 1,500 feet of range but on more than one occassion it has far surpassed that. I think the reason for this is since the truck sits a lot higher than most other vehicles. As for the 5,000 foot remote starter, I believe if its the one the guy I know showed me, it has a color screen and all these other gizmos correct? If this is the one it most likely was made in canada. Mine was made in montreal and I think the one I saw was around that range but wasn't $199 (canadian anyways) Both I believe were made by the same company.

Yes, thats the one... with the color screen. That's the one I'm thinking about, wouldn't mind testing the range before buying. I've also heard they are coming out with remote starters that can be operated from your cell phone.

Sorry it took so long to reply to your question, been keeping busy The name of the command start system that is installed in my truck is made by AutoStart. If I remember correctly the fancy color screen one with the long range was also made by this company.

That Alarm/Remote Start is very similar to the DEI 554R system I had installed in mine. Even the remote icons are the same although color of vehicle is red.The specs on it are also almost identical. Backlight is very nice at night to have and lights up when its sent a tone, confirmation etc.
You will love it if you get it installed in yours. I usually wake up in the morning and hit the buttons to start, jump in the shower and ready to go in a warm truck. Get a good installer though as they will be tapping into quite a few wires.......

Heres a link to mine if you want to check it out. I`m not sure if its available in Canada though..This isnt where I bought mine from but the have a good description of it.
