Right on, BrewMaster!

I had a 97 Nissan (the last year before Frontiers) and it was a tough little truck. Never had one problem even after I piled it into a Redwood. However, you can't question Ford's record in the full size market. Anything that Nissan has done with the light trucks doesn't necessarily translate into the full size trucks, no matter what the Nissan fanboys say.

Honestly I haven't driven one, but I find it hard to believe that the extra 5 HP in the lighter Nissan gives the neck snapping speed all the fanboys (who probably haven't driven one either) keep blabbering about. I'm looking forward to modding my truck, that's the fun part! It may cost me a few extra coins, but after I bolt on my AF1 intake, Magnaflow cat-back, new ignition system, and tune the PCM I'm gonna be sitting on around 355 horses which should more than take care of all the Titanics out there

Anyway, the Titan and Armada are f'n hideous which rules them out regardless.

I couldnt agree more. Trucks, to me, are like women. If I don't like the way they look, forget it.

Part of the reason why Nissan's resale value is lower (Not to sucky levels, but still lower) than Toyota & Honda has nothing to do with build quality. It has more to do with popularity and fleet sales.

Other great vehicles that have sucky resale values are:

Ford F-150, Expedition, Taurus, Crown Vic and Mustang
BMW 740, 750, & 745
Nissan Sentra, Frontier & Altima

It all depends on dependability, availability, relaibility and consumer demand. Hondas & Toyota's are hot because the demand was high, and the availability was low. Not many rental car agencies had either model- and if they did, Honda (At least in the 90's) didn't do fleet sales- so if you wanted a fleet of Honda's you bought them one at a time. Talk about a rabid following, that's Honda & Toyota. They have more repeat buyers than anyone- with the exception of old folks buying Buicks.

Nissan's following, while strong- is not as strong as Toyota & Honda. I mean, what dealership have you been to, and saw people negotiating ABOVE STICKER for a vehicle? Only at Honda (And one time Chrysler, with that PT cruiser). People were actually paying 1,000 - 3,000 OVER sticket to get their hands on:

Honda Accord EX-V6's
Honda Pilots
Honda Odessey

That what you call- a Honda loyalist! I'll never, ever pay sticker again. Ever...

Honda & Yota's resale has less to do with engineering and more to do with demand. People are still paying $15,000 for gently used Acura Legends and they built the last one in 1995 or 1996. They were only 30 - 35K new. You can get a 1995 735i for that price- or less.

The 3 Nissan's we've had (And at one time my whole immediate family had Nissan's) were rock solid- and never had problems. Then, Honda & Toyota's premium brands are sales leaders as well: (Lexus & Acura). They're just hard to beat.

And, as far as accelleration goes: I have driven both- the Titan is quicker... Way quicker than the SuperCrew. That's why I said the Titan must be closer to 350 than 305. But, in road tests, the Titan was faster with 820 lbs in the bed than the F-150 was empty. So, it's not about power, it's about gearing. Nissan has historically gotten their power to the ground better than most. Their drive trains are very efficient.

Case in point:
1997 Nissan Maxima SE: 190 HP/205 lb. ft torque: V6, 0 - 60/ 6.6sec. 1/4 mile 15.5 @ 95 MPH.

1997 Ford Mustang GT: 225 HP/ 290 lb. ft. torque: V8, 0-60 / 6.5 sec., 1/4 mile in 15.6 @ 96 MPH.

There's no way a V-6 with 35 less horses, and way less torque than a GT should have come close to it in 0-60, or in the quarter- but it did. Drivetrain efficiency....
****************************************
I saw someone bashing on Dodge Ram; talking about drivetrain power loss on the Hemi. Normal drivetrain loss across the board is 20% - 22% from the Flywheel (Where HP is measured) to the tires. The more powerful the engine, typically- the greater the loss... A 345 HP Hemi at the crank should have 276 HP at the rear tires. Whereas a 300 HP Triton should drop from 300 to 240. Generally speakign of course.... Every year engines are gettign better, so maybe Ford has improved beyond average rates because someone said the F-150 had 255 HP at the tires.

Most Lightnings have around 10% drivetrain losses. I've seen stock ones dynoed from 330-345 HP at the wheels.
