Hey whazzup17....

Both of these trucks are made in the same factory in Singapore. The only real differenece between the two are the cup holders. The Ford has 8 and the Titan has only 6 (Woot Ford!). I heard also that they are using skins from Mad Cows for the leather interiors in the Titan... so be careful.

Seriously.... these trucks have nothing but some specs in common (engine size, towing capacity, etc).

Later,
DJ

Style: Kinda Different
Function: Same

The styling is different- but that was a given. Ford is nice, Titan is a love it or hate it. I like the Titan, but I'll just say go see one for yourself- it looks way nicer in person. Photos do it no justice....

The KEY differences are:

The 2004 F-150's frame is 12 times stronger than the frame used from 1997 - 2003. [ I never had a problem with my chassis (2001 Supercrew) It hasn't bent once yet...]

The 2004 Titan's frame is 9 times stronger than the 1997 - 2003 F-150. Whatever that means..... Frames ALWAYS get stronger- you'll probably never know the difference. So, in short- they're the strongest two frames on light duty pick-ups on the road.

F150: 5.4L 300 HP
Titan: 5.6L 305 HP: Titan makes that power at a lower RPM if memory serves. Titan reaches max torque at a lower RPM as well.

Titan is quicker, with more standard features- and is cheaper $ when comparably equipped.

Titan is standard with floor shifter (Way cool).
F150: you have to get Captains chairs and an FX-4 or Lariat to get that.

Towing: Max Ford: 9,500 (New ads say 9,900)
Max Titan: 9,500

Stereo: Both nice, Titan (when properly optioned) is nicer than Ford's system.

Bottom line: You can't lose with either truck. Neither would be a bad choice. The Titan is larger on the inside: front seat and rear seat. And the 150 & Titan are within an inch of each other is every measurable aspect.

*******************************

Side bar-
Ford's been the truck leader for 20+ years; but the 2004 is a new model. I don't care if it's a Bentley; there's a risk with buying the first model year of any new or redesigned vehicle. (Gremlins)

Nissan's been building trucks for years, just never any full-size trucks in the US. The Titan is a brand new vehicle- but Nissan's in general are rock solid vehicles: From the Sentra to the Infiniti Q45. With so much to lose on this gamble (Entering the US dominated pick-up market), I doubt Nissan would half-step on the mechanial execution of this vehicle.

In my opinion, either truck is fine, and I think you'd be as happy with a loaded SuperCrew FX4 as you would be with a Crewcab Titan SE 4x4. But, the choice is yours. My suggestion: drive both in the same day, and see what you think. That's what I did.

Choosing between the two- after driving both I'd buy the Titan because I know Nissan products, and I like what they've done with the Titan. I know Ford products as well- in fact better than I do Nissan- and I have nothing but good things to say about my last 4 Ford trucks.

The FX4 Supercrew is super-nice, and the prettiest girl at the dance, but to me, the Titan leads by a whisker.

Honestly; If price were no object, I wouldn't buy either truck...
I'd buy a black or dark green GMC Denali C3 Extended Cab, loaded....

i like the nissans throttle response,it doesnt have the delay that the ford has with its electronic throttle control. however,i`m sure ford will reprogram or recalibrate the system to improve response.

I'm interested in seeing how strong the drivetrain lasts in the new Nissans as compared to the Fords. Remember, there are first year `gremlins` with the Titan, too. I just want to see how long they go without breaking an axle (they're smaller than the Ford's, by quite a bit it looks to me, if anyone has specs, please share them) or spitting a U-Joint. I just can't see Nissan being as heavy-duty as Ford, but I have no doubt that the Titan will be a long-lasting truck, I just don't think it's going to measure up in the worst of conditions like the Ford will. I don't think Nissan would half-*** their first full-size, but Ford wouldn't either, that's their flagship vehicle, hell, it's the flagship vehicle of our country. Nissan = good truck. Ford = the icon by which all other trucks are measured. We'll see how they stack up when we get a bunch of them out on the roads!

Here we go again. Nissan sucks bad. Why oh why do we have to be subjected to this kind of crap. I again state a simple fact "This Is A Ford Site"...

after spending 3 "lovely" years in japan in the service of our country, I saw alot of heavy duty trucks from all the manuf. on that side of the world, and they do know the market for hauling the loads, navigating the back woods and reliability, just my 2 cents.....

There are posts on the net about 2004 Armada owners interiors buckling and falling apart, steering wheels becoming inoperable....also read some problems with tranny slips...It's built on the same platform as the Titan...Take your chance with the Titan if you want to...If I ever buy an import, it'll be a Toyota

Nissans historically have had the worst resale value of the imports. We will see if that follows the Titan. Their little frontiers have awful resale value.

poor resale is also because Nissan quality is not on par with Toyota or Honda.

Go do some research. You will find that Nissan quality (at least in the past 10 years) is not much different from Ford or GM.

I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier/supercharged, first year production after a massive design change. 36,000 miles and NOT ONE trip back to the dealer for repair/reset/What's that noise? Resale may suck. I don't know, 'cuz I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.

I ordered a '04 Screw/Lariat for my wife. It should be here in a week or two. I can only hope that it will be as reliable as the Nissan.

Don't get me wrong. I love the Ford. I think that it truly outshines anything that I have seen or driven to date. I plan on using it every chance I get

Me in a small truck and my wife in the "nice" one...It just aint right.

bull*****. i test drove a Titan that had bench seats front and back, no floor shifter. Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA. It was a 4x2 CrewCab in Dark Blue. the color was very night, i think they called it midnight blue or something like that.

after all of these threads about Titans and such, it maybe nice if F150online came up with a forum specifically about "Ford vs. The Competition" like they have at FTW. It would spare this forum from being degraded with boring threads like this.
