Question Aftermarket exhaust?

I have been loking around and there are already a few on the market. Was wondering if anyone had tried any yet. I saw the gibson which has many different styles. Also borla has one out. Possibly bassani. I am looking for a split rear dual exit.

I'm impatiently waiting for a stainless Magnaflow split rear outlet system for the '04 Screw to duplicate the system I had on my '97 Scab.

Are y'all listening Magnaflow?

Count me in for a dual out the back end cat back exhaust.Gibson has one out, but you have to remove the rear tire for it to fit. I checked with my local 4 wheel drive accessories dealer on the Borla and after calling them Borla direct, he found out that a dual system has been engineered but will not be out for 2-3 months to the dealers. which seems to be the tale wherever we go for "stuff" for our 2004 F150...It's being engineered and will be out soon. As an example, I am told that my bedrug will soon be here (I've been promised that it will be here in a week since well before Thanksgiving). They are testing our collective patience.

Dual Sport

I'm considering the Gibson Dual Sport for my 04 FX4 SCrew and was wondering if anyone out there might have the Dual Sport installed and can supply some Pics. Seems everyone has the split system coming out the rear so I think the dual coming out the side will be something different. Doesn't have to be on a 04 but would like to hear what people think of the sound on a 5.4 and the quality of the Gibson piece. Gibson's web site is very generic in their descriptions and none of the local shops keep these systems in stock. I would want the stainless steel sysytem but don't want to buy it without someone having some opinion about Gibson. Until recently the only thing I knew about Gibson was they made a nice guitar. (LOL) Any info or opinions will be appreciated.

I'm not knocking Gibson, but their system (muffler/pipes) rusted out on my '97 LD F250 5.4 prior to 3 years in service. Hopefully, the stainless systems are the answer. Also, my Gibson system was only marginally louder than OEM. I prefer a straight-through muffler (like Magnaflow), but muted (not raucous) like Magnaflow's rock wool construction. However, my Gibson was too quiet. Perhaps the muffler was too large (=quiet) to fill the huge gap of the OEM.

On my '99 F150 I had a simple 40 series Flowmaster put on, single in, dual out. I would never put that on a high performance machine, but it sounded great, and I had the shop weld on two chrome tips for the dual look.

Why not just do something like that instead of the $400 plus for a "catback" system? If it's for the HP, I doubt you'll feel the 3HP gain!!

I opted for that "dual" single side exit for a 98 f150 5.4 4X4. The dual pipes exited behind the rear wheel and the polished/chromed tips were ruined within the first year (gravel, tar, salt, etc). Perhaps different for the 04 since the shocks are placed differently, on the 98, one of the "duals" leaned on the plastic upper housing of the shock and melted it and the other side was very tight with the spare tire in place. Not much of a difference in sound from the single exhaust and certainly not much increase in performance or gas mileage. Let's face it a cat back or a homemade cat back is done for looks and sound. Anyone who tells you that there was a big performance increase with there catback has been brainwashed
Wait for the Borla exhaust (for quality) and as a second choice Maganflow. And go for the look and sound.

I had the stainless Gibson split rear exit on my 2000 XLT 5.4 4X4. I had the 17" tires so the spare had to be removed. Quality was ok, but the system had a lot of u-clamps and the rear hangers were bolted to the frame and suspended by rawhide and clamped to the pipe. The stainless tips were nice. As far as sound, it wasn't that much louder than the oem exhaust. My sons have Flowmaster on their 03's and they do sound nice but a little loud for my tastes. I'm thinking of getting the Magnaflow (stainless) split rear for my 04 FX4.
There is a muffler shop in my area that specializes in custom exhausts. I'm going to check them out once I save up the money.
