you have to pull of the entire trim piece, it popps out/off, as the ashtray is anchored by a few screws behind it. Good luck

I have an LS system...

I bought a used system from a 2003 Lincoln LS to adapt into my 2003 F-150. My primary reason for selecting this unit (and the companion DVD drive) is that it is the proper DIN height for the opening on my F-150. There are two components: the 6-disc changer/fold-out display unit that mounts in the dash, and the remotely mounted DVD drive unit.

The installation has involved quite a bit of preparation work -- which is still going on -- but I'm excited about the potential for this project! I will especially like having just ONE DVD (for the whole country) to deal with, rather than a whole set of CDs. If there's an interest, I will keep everyone updated by postings here.

If anyone has information regarding facilities that will repair/overhaul the display/changer units, please let me know. I want to have everything checked out thoroughly before I mount the units, and I'd rather not deal with a dealer (they'd just send them out to someone else anyway).

Thanks everyone~

Rich

PA2815 - Please do keep us updated on the project!

dlewis1340 - When you hook up your iPod, will you hook it into whatever the AUX button is? Where is the hookup for this button? I want to do this as well, but have not had the truck long enough to look into it yet.

Looks great. How did you run the wires so they were not seen?

Thanks,

PA28150...

Sounds like you've got yourself a project many of us would like to see. Take lots of pictures and keep us posted. Who knows, you might even teach a technically challenged guy like myself how to install his own!
