Lincoln LS / Navigator Navigation Unit
Lincoln LS / Navigator Navigation Unit
Is anyone out there familiar with the Lincoln Navigation systems?
Two of them have come up on ebay and sold for between 600-900
It looks nice with a 6.5" motorized flip up screen and 6 disk changer. Dimensions are right on for width but a little short top to bottom so I'd need a custom dash sorround.
Would the wiring plug in or is the a difference with the 04 vs. the 03's?
I'll probably also need a GPS antanne as well right?

I have been looking for the same information and have to date had no luck.
Also, would the steering wheel controls still work?
I would put a nav system in if it was fords and worked as stock audiophile unit does. If not I will get a garmin portable unit, which is probably a better idea as I have 3 vehicles.

I am also looking at the Garmin units. The 6210 look very nice and I have read some good reviews about it. Seems like the Garmin is much better reviewed than the Navman i630 but I do like looks of the Navman better.
I'll keep looking for an OEM based solution and post anything I find out.

I usually don't remove it, however It would only take a couple of seconds to remove it from the mount. It does talk and has a touch screen.

My Garmin lives happily in the '04 as well. Mount is attached to the inside of the ashtray.

Since I don't use it every day, it's no big deal to snap the mount on there and drop the iQue in when I need it. Plus, when it's not in there, complete stealth aside from the antenna on the roof...

hey.. dlewis1340 I just got it as a Christmas gift but I would imagine bright sunlight could be a problem. We have a factory nav unit in our Jeep Liberty and sometimes the glare makes the screen difficult to see clearly.
also I run the wires through the dash so they would not be seen.
The Garmin is a nice nav unit with lots of viewing options. my only complaint so far is it doesn't tell you what street you are on. unless the street name happens to be viewable on the screen.
The Nav unit in our Jeep always shows at the bottom of the screen the street you are actually on.

JH Cain. Thanks for the picture. You just helped me figure out something that seems so obvious now.
This is why I love this board. Good people sharing ideas and experiences.
I have been trying to figure out how to remove the ashtray so I can add an iPod dock mount inside it when I see you just attached your mount inside the ashtray liner and then poped it in !!!
This wasy all I drill holes in is the ashtray liner "pop in" part and not the tray itself. SO SIMPLE.
Now I do still need to drill the actual ashtry to run wiring but I should be able to do that when it is in place.
Thanks Sir

I use my notebook computer (17" color screen) with Delorme Street Atlas and a GPS hook up thru my USB port. Works great and best of all it was under 100.00 and very VERY portable to any vehilce or boat. I highly suggest this to those who have a PDA or notebook computer to use for as a monitor. They have a bluetooth that is nice too. The website is:

My computer just sits on the seat next to me. Perfect.

I need to cut a 2 inch slot in the very bottom/back side of the actual ashtray (not the pop in liner) to feed a cable end through. I can't see how the ashtry is actually connected to dash and do not want to slice through this mechanism in doing it.
If you look down into the ashtray it would be in ashtray at the very bottom of the side facing the front of the vehicle.
Is anyone familiar with how the ashtray is actually anchored/attached to the dash. I can't figure out how to remove it.
Can I cut this slot or not?
Any help would be appreciated.
