There is a dynosheet on the Airaid website, apparently +20 HP and +46 ft/lbs Torque. Seems to be my first mod as well.

Last night I ordered the Airaid at www.Truckperformance.com for $286.99 with free shipping. I think the free shipping deal is just through this weekend.

As soon as mine arrives, you can be sure that I'll install it immediately and post the results.

I think Airaid website, saying +20 HP and +46 ft/lbs Torque is BS.
That a lot just for adding an air filter

Here is the ebay link for a buy it now price of $274.95:

I'm with bfab - a +46ft/lb increase is hard to believe at such a low engine speed. I think it was around 2500RPM.

well, the only way to confirm or debunk that gains stated on their website would be to dyno a truck before and after. someone was going to do that around here, but again, i can't remember who. i guess my memory is damn useless...

I've already installed a K&N filter on my '04. Improved fuel milage.

I thought Daneo2 was going to add one and then have it dyno tested. I was waiting to hear from his results.

If these filters are so good

why doesn't Ford buy them, just filter, and put them on the truck as OEM? I know the entire system is noisier than the factory intake setup and that is probably why they wouldn't use it that way. Just think how cheaply Ford could buy those filters in the quantity they would need! Appears to me that if they were good for fuel economy they would help with CAFE standars and be worth the additional cost! JMO!

gettting the automotive industry to spend more money on anything non-essential that can't be sold as an improvement is damn near impossible. they can't sell the average car buyer on the fact that they use K&N filters. most people don't know what that means and don't care. it's not like "Leather Seats!" or "300 HP!" or any other feature they sell. my company sells a lot to the automotive industry and an improvement like that means very little to them becuase they get no return on their extra cost. i know it sounds lame, but they look at the total cost, not the unit cost. not using K&N filters saves them millions per year. sucks, but that's how they look at it. i agree with you, but the auto industry disagrees with you and me.

happy thanksgiving!

How about if Ford did not mention that they were using K&N filters and simply stated better gas milage. I think folks most definitely look at MPG as a deciding factor. Now that's an improvement!

Next year Ford will implement a new air filter system at very little cost to them (probably just change the mold used in the current airbox). In return, they can advertise a 15HP increase over the prior year. This is marketing...

As I posted above, I have the Airaid on order. I'm skeptical of the huge gains they're boasting, but after looking at my stock airbox, something's got to be done. In my past trucks, I've always dropped in a K+N replacement filter and called it a day. But since it appears that the Airaid is the only airflow upgrade out there for the new 5.4, I'll give it a shot. How bad could it be?
