Longest wait so far??

How long did you all you guys have to wait for your trucks? The order for my 04 Screw 4x4 Lariat was placed on Sept. 11. I am hoping to get a call this week soemtime. My dealer said they don't get the VIN #'s till the truck ships and once he gets it he will call me ASAP so I can get it on here. BUT I have read some threads that really scare me as far as unplanned delays....

What is the average you guys have been waiting?

Who waited the longest to get there trucks? (not including those who placed them before they were 1st shipped???)

A little hint:

The dealer WILL have the VIN once the order is submitted to the plant. In the Twin Cities Region, orders are submitted every Thursday night, and we will get VIN's by friday morning.

Placed order on October 7th, I heard it was built on November 10th, picked it up November 14th. I was really lucky I guess. I had ordered a reg. cab also if that made a difference. I've the Most orders are supers and crews.

Ordered 9/25 built 10/21 shipped 10/28...still dont have it, dealer doesnt have it nobody has it. They cant find it. If I dont have a good answer by tomorrow afternoon, im canceling and buying one off the lot.

If the truck was ordered and is being built you should have a VIN, sounds like your dealer is playing games with you. Call and ask for your VIN, if he cant give it to you and he doesnt ave it, it means the truck isnt built. Cancel the order and buy one off the lot. IMO

Josh,
I believe you when you tell me they have my VIN number, but tell me what I should do, or who I should talk to and what should I say to who so that I get my VIN because according to my sales guy, they don't have the VIN....?

My sales guy is a moron (I found out after I placed the order). He forgot to mention he had never special ordered a truck before and so we were both learning how these things work together. I wanted to tell him some nasty things, but I always feel like I should be nice to the guy cause after all he is the one who is gonna make the call to me when it gets there....

Anyways the important thing is I want to know how to get my VIN from him....

Well, I am pretty sure that those lady at Ford Customer Servise will tell you to expect 10-12 weels. That's what I was told. Especially in your case the truck is screw.... hope you will not be screwed.

I will hit 12 weeks in about a week and still expecting the truck to be built. Just hoping they do not lose my truck in transit....LOL

Like Brewdude I started checking on the dealer inventory but no luck.... Well, I have been spending a lot of $$$ on aftermarket parts though....

Good luck!! Who knows...you may get in 4-6 weeks. And also good luck to you Brewdude. Hope you find it soon.

Don't ask the sales guy...especially if he "has never special ordered someone a truck before."

Just ask to speak to his sales manager or inventory manager or whomever does the ordering.

Ask two things:

1) Has my order been sumbitted to the plant and scheduled?

2)a) If Yes, ask for the VIN and tell them you heard they get VINs after they are submitted to the plant .

b) If No, ask them why not?!?!?

Again, from an dealership working experience and truck ordering experience...I understand why some orders get scheduled and some do not.

For one, it depends on the allocation for each week for your dealer. Allocation means how many units they have submitted/scheduled.

Then, for F150s for example, it depends on what options your region is scheduling. I know the LT275/65r18 tires on FX4 and Lariat is one highly limited option in the Twin Cities Region. So are running boards, Yellow paint...stuff like that.

Hint #3) You should ask your dealer person that orders the trucks (if your order has limited options)...which options are limited and figure out if you can live with out them.

I ordered 10/10 and still don't have a VIN number. My truck has not been scheduled. I'm trying to buy off the lot because my dealer says he has the allocation, and doesn't know why my truck hasn't been scheduled.
