Just heard mine got scheduled today for Dec 1st!! This is the second time they've told me my truck was scheduled. The salesman called me from home on his day off, so I know it's for real this time (A different guy told me it was scheduled for Nov 24 before...liar).

Anyway this is good news because I was drooling over some of the 03 Lightnings kicking around the local dealers, I was this close.........

I think production didn't begin until June or July. There was probably a huge backlog of orders at the start. So if it makes you feel better, you probably only waited 16 weeks

Wink

You guys are spoiled . I waited over 6 months for my 97 when I ordered it.
Ordered 5-30-96
Delivered 12-4-96

I wasn't in a hurry to get it at first because I had a 86 GT to drive in the summer. I started to worry in October because I had ordered the XLT Supercab with the Off-road package. There was a strike a Alcoa to complicate the already short supply of 17" aluminum wheels.

Oh yeah, it was worth the wait.

I finally got some good news today. After leaving my salesman a message telling him im worried my truck was damaged during shipping and I was thinking of buying one from another dealer he called me back. Told me he just got out of a meeting with his Ford rep and district sales manager. They made some calls while in the meeting to track my truck and find out what the hold up is. He said it was held up, but wasnt sure why, but assured me it wasnt due to any damage. They checked on that as everything is documented. The truck was shipped and is at the rail yard in New Jersey. Its so close to me I can smell the leather interior. They just have to get it unloded from the rail car and on a truck headed to Conn. and he will give the "its here" call. Im really hoping for this week but the way this whole thing has gone im not expecting to have it until next week. At least I know its close.

Good luck to everyone waiting, as im sure its well worth it, the wait is BRUTAL!!!!

I guess I'll comment on this subject. I'm ticked off about the wait. Ordered 09/06/03. Scheduled for delivery 10/14/03. Guess what? There is a "Quality Hold" on 6,000 units at the Norfolk assembly plant for a possible "misplaced" oil pan gasket. Yep, six thousand!!! My VIN # 1FTPX14554NA54294 is one of them. The sales manager has talked to everyone he can (while I sat in his office). I have bugged them every week. I do not blame the dealer. I have called and e-mailed Ford Customer Service and have been told they know nothing about the hold and I'll just have to wait. The sales manager is being told they are not going to ship any of them until all 6,000 are inspected and cleared of the problem. That's idiotic!!! I have 27 years experience in manufacturing and "Quality Holds" are cleared in "lots" in order to make more room for additional production. There has to be more to the story than what I am able to find out. Anybody out there have some connections/knowledge on what's going on there?

Funny, I mentioned that I was thinking of going to another dealer last Friday. Monday morning, my truck is scheduled.

Actually I don't think SCrew Production started until August (could be wrong). I'm just still a little bitter!

My truck took 5 weeks from order to delivery. The worst part is it has been at the dealer for 6 weeks and I still have not taken delivery. They are taking my 03 back as a defect and i found out that the parwork was lost after week 4 and they had to resubmit. My dealer says it will only be about a week or so. That sucks that i know it has been sitting there but cant go pick it up!!! I gave ford a good butt chewing on this so we will see......

Misplaced? Meaning....lost?.....backwards? How could someone miss 6000 "mistakes" before noticing?

My truck was built + had gate release in Norfolk on Nov. 13 and has yet to ship. Is seven days (so far) an unusually long time between release and shipping? I'm getting this bad feeling that I'm one of those being "held up".

Would my truck be granted gate release if it were on "Quality Hold"?

It only took 28 days from order to build, so I am in no position to complain, but I'm gettin' itchy knowin' it's just sittin' on some storage lot only 200 miles from me.

Hey, I have a thought! I could go pick it up at the factory and they could refund my freight charge!!! Anyone else want to come along?
