Which is better LEER or A.R.E.? Any experiences?

Anyone have any experience with A.R.E. LSII hard bed covers or LEER's 700 series tonneau? I checked out a bunch and decided I like the ARE LSII which I got the call from the sales rep and they said it costs $700 installed and painted to match the truck. Does anyone know the what Leers 700 Series Tonneau will cost to put on my Screw. I was also wondering is anyone has had any good/bad experiences with either company? They both look like really high quality tonneau's and most everything seems comparable so I am thinking it will depend on someone else's experience with them to help me decide....

I have an A.R.E LSII ordered for my 04 Lariat.
Should be here on 11/10.I have seen a lot of LSIIs
on the street.Only saw 1 leer.I Like the LSII looks
better. My price installed was $900.00 but i ordered
the interior package plus auto lock plus a cover over
the lock assy. They have a lot of accessories.I turned
down their offer to add the spoiler for free.

Mike

edit.run a search for LSII and Leer onthis forum.

ARE LS-II

I bought the ARE LS-II and I am VERY pleased with it. I have Pics in my gallery. $775.00 + $50.00 for the carpet liner installed.

I can't say which is better (rotary vs. non-rotary latches, etc.), but I had a very sour experience with A.R.E. recently (paint & fit). Fortunately, the dealer refunded my deposit. Some other threads on this forum have recently posted both positively and negatively re: A.R.E. Type "A.R.E. tonneau" in the forum search for info just a few pages earlier.

I can't speak for other regions, but locally $700 would be a bargain for a hard tonneau. In this vicinity, a painted/lined Leer and A.R.E. will cost $900 installed and a SnugLid $1035.

I thought my region would be just as expensive if not more in every regards. I am in Boston, and just about everything here is more expensive than anywhere else I have been in the US except for NYC. Your out on the West Coast I would say San Fran is comparable as far as pricing goes for real estate although I never have bought a tonneau cover before...

I ordered a leer 500 series cover......wanted the 700 but the dealer told me he does not recommend it due to the hinges and the locking rails being made cheaply. He said the 500 series has stiffer supports and uses a piano type hinge system rather then just the corners.

Called dealer and it should be here Friday.

have a Leer. No issues.

Colour holding.

No issues with locks or struts.

Only problem was the rubber weather gaurd that keeps water out of the lock. It broke off after 2 yrs. But thats just a cheap rubber part that is easily replaced.

i believe the Leer warranty also covers the structure.

This is an easy thing to cover... I abuse miner all the time and it holds up.

Us folks in Orygun have no familiarity with Jason...apparently not available here...I checked their website for info...did you order the Dimension or Hugger model?

The critical test will be the fit to the front corners of the bed. Let us know what y'all think of fit and finish (paint quality). With flawless paint on my '04, I will not settle for anything less on the tonneau. LOL.

to be honest with ya I don't remember which one i ordered.. I went in wanting one of them and ended up getting a different one because one was suppose to seal better and fit over the ford rails better... I'll have to get back to ya on that one... I think I went in wanting the hugger because it is more of a smooth top.. but I think I ended up with the other...

well my LEER tonneau cover came in and while the techs were prepping the truck I was checking it over.I had them stop the prep due to finding several flaws in the mold and in the paint. Now I am looking into getting an A.R.E. Tonneau.

My update on this thread: After refusing the install of the A.R.E. due to poor fit and several paint imperfections (fortunately I got a no-hassle refund of my deposit), my dealer said he would check out tonneaus at the SEMA show for me. When he returned, we discussed the issue and he recommended a Snugtop (Snuglid) based on his inspections of tonneaus at the show.

I contacted the local Snugtop dealer...they have 2 tonneaus ordered for the '04 and will call me when they are installed so that I may personally inspect one on the new F150.

I'm happy with my ARE. After some adjustments in how it's mounted I have no fit problems.
