When I ordered my truck, my dealer said around the Nov-Dec timeframe.

To pose more questions, how does it work if you didn't order it with the vehicle and purchase it afterwards? Do they put the rear seat audio controls in? Is it installed the same way, to integrate the audio?

The factory/dealer installed DVD system requires the rails on the roof which are unavailable with the moon roof. My dealer has a customer who ordered the DVD and they are going to install it when they get it.

My understanding of the DVD player is that it simply snaps on the rails. The power comes from the rails and the unit uses wireless headphones (2 come with it) and an infared remote so no wiring is necessary.

There's a plug in for the DVD player under the front most cover in front of the rails, this is were power and audio hookup to the rest of the truck.

Is that only in the screw or is it in the scabs too? Have you (or anyone else) attempted to see if it is there?

The factory installed DVD will be available December 1 and at this point, that is the only option. However, dealer install will begin in '05, so if you plan on ordering a truck with the rail before '05, get the DVD system.

No_F150_yet - The DVD system does have wireless headphones available, but the rail is not powered nor is the module moveable.

Hope this helps...

I find it hard to believe that you could not order the DVD player when it is available from the dealer. Why would this install be that hard. You just snap it in the rails and plug it in!

The DVD player is available from the ford dealers now. My brother is a parts guy in a ford dealership and told me last night that he sold one 2 days ago. Its about $1500 for the system. Im not sure about the power or hookup in the rails. I'll ask him tonight and let you know.
