Retrax Cover on a Yellow Screw (pics!)

I have been investigating a Retrax cover for my Scab and Retrax sent me some pics of their cover on a yellow 2004 F-150 Screw. Look in my gallery for pics.

Thanks for pics!

I like it because it is flat, but I don't like the way the rail system hangs inside the bed. Seems like it can be easily damaged.
Also, with the bed only being 5.5', you lose even more space when that thing is rolled up, so you end up with only about 5' of bed.

the canister is 11"x11" so it takes up part of the bed like you said, but you still have space under the canister. it doesn't go all the way to the floor of the bed. the thing i like about it is that it is sturdy but can be removed if necessary. also, it seems to be made of good quality material. there is no question that you do lose some space with the canister, but i rarely use the entire bed of my truck anyway. i can spare the space.

well, i am not 100% sure i will go with Retrax, but i am headed in that direction. JDMnAR (another F150online member) quoted me a price of $770 and of course I would like to support F150online members. Retrax gave me a price of $889 direct from them. I will make some calls around here to see if I can save a few bucks on shipping, but we'll see. From Retrax shipping is about $55. I am not going to buy for another few months because I have too many expenses with the new truck right now.

Yep, I've been in contact with JDMnAR myself, got the same quote. I also sent Joe Oliver a e-mail, still waiting to hear back. I like the roller bearing & lexan features of the retrax, looks sharp too. I got some pics from Retrax last night myself & it does look nice on the crewcab, gotta look nice on our super cabs also.

Have you checked out Roll N Lock (www.rollnlock.com)? My father-in-law put one on his '01 SCAB and it works extremely very well. It chews up some of the bed as well, but not too bad. The other thing I like about it is that it is completely clamp-on (no drilling).

I think he got it online (I can find out where if there's interest) for about $400, and installed himself in about 2 hours.

it's made of polycarbonate and aluminum, so it should be just fine in cold climates. also it covers the top of the tailgate, so it will keep moisture out. they say it can handle they weight of snow pild up on it. and it too is a no drilling installation. they say it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

What about with a bedliner like LIne-X?

Should you have the cover installed first and THEN have the bedliner added or bedliner first or does it matter?

Want the best possible finish to keep moisture out. On trips the bed will be the truck!

definatley have the bedliner put in before the cover. they would have to take the cover off to spray the bedliner in, so it would just create extra work for you to have to install the cover twice. my bedliner is getting sprayed on saturday and I will order my tonneau cover in a month or two. i am only speaking for spray in bedliners. i don't know how drop ins will fit with the toneau cover.

I was told that there is a good chance that the drop in bedliners will have to be modified (trimmed by the cab).

It seems tthis is the case with all the retractable tonneaus.

Anyone out there have a retrax with a pendaliner on thier "04 out there? We went with the penda over spray in for the extra protection against denting the bed. Cheaper too.

O.K., at 1st I had some reservations about this lid, but now, after doing some research and reading the threads in the Beliner Forum, I do believe I found the "1" I will be getting. It is the Retrax.

Now, where do I find the lowest price? Is $770 the lowest price?
I saw a thread where you get a $100 rebate if you mention the site of that Retrax dealer.

Who is "JDMnAR"? Did he order one for someone else? He is a Retrax Dealer or affiliate?

see this thread in the Bedliner forum. incidently, i called a local dealer and he wanted to sell it to me for $1000 installed, $950 just for the kit for me to install it myself. i told him he was crazy.

JDMnAR is a dealer. You can email him as listed in the above link. Call Retrax and confirm that he is a dealer. Retrax customer service seems to be really good. They are super helpful and go out of there way to get you the info you need (like the pics they sent me). also, if you look on the Retrax Testamonials page on their website there is a testimonial from someone who bought through a group purchase here on F150online.com.
