Poll: Would you buy a 6.5ft bed SuperCrew?

It’s sad that you are forced to get a ¾ ton truck just to get a screw with a 6.5 box.
For 2004, Chevy is offering for the first time, a ½ ton truck with a crew cab, but it’s only going to have a 5.5 bed. Chevy would have 1 up on Ford if they offered their ½ ton crew cab with the 6.5 box.
An 8 foot bed is called a long box, a 6.5 bed is called a short box, but to me a 5.5 bed should be called a mini box.

Kind of funny, I get numerous requests for a 6.5' SuperCrew that doesn't get built, and I never once had a request for a Supercab 5.5' and thats now availble. Sometimes I wonder who they talk to about what to build.

This is the single biggest reason why I have not ordered a new F150. The 5.5' bed is a huge compromise for me. Can't put a tool box in the 5.5' bed and have much room left for anything else. Can't put most of the bigger quads in 5.5' bed and still shut the tailgate. Can't get a larger gas tank for the 5.5' equipped bed. The extra foot of bed makes a big difference for those wanting to pull a fifth wheel trailer. Really too small to use a bed tent in that box. And the list goes on...
We had an earlier thread (see it here) in which we concluded the current production line is capable of building a truck with a 6.5' bed in a SuperCrew configuration, as they currently produce a longer truck in the SuperCab with an 8' bed. Sure you could buy an F250/350 SD in this configuration, but you would not have nearly as refined a truck as the F150 in that same configuration. Also, by our estimations, the overall length would be reduced from the F250/350 Crew Cab's 245.9" (on a 156.1" wheelbase) to a more garage friendly 236" (on a 150.7" wheelbase).
C'mon Ford, give the people what they really want!!

The fact is that this would be an option and makes no sense why Ford has never offered it. It's just common sense... hmm... kind of makes you wonder if the minds at Ford ever thought, "hmm... perhaps there are people that need the bigger bed AND more room on the interior?"... it's a very simple question to ask yourself.
But, as Ford has stated, their target market is those that aren't heavy duty workers, but use their trucks for every day use (groceries and driving the kids... yes, Ford ACTUALLY listed those)...so, a 5.5ft bed is perfect for groceries because it's bigger than your car trunk anyway... still, Ford needs to cater to a larger audience.
Nope. A 6.5 bed would be too long for a Screw. I don't think it would look good and it would be hard to park and garage. I went back and forth on deciding whether to get a FX4 Screw or Scab. I picked the Screw. Fully loaded. Ordered 10/9. The bed extender will make up for the one foot shorter bed. As far as the looks of the Screw and the Scab. I like the Screw. Being single. I took a survey from my family (Brother, Sister, spouses and kids) After looking at the two they all picked the Screw FX4 as the one I should get get. The FX4 Screw is a sharp looking truck.
8' bed is a must for me and Scabs with it are tough to find. Some days I would like a reg cab with 10' bed. But then I need a working truck more than a "big" car. For what most of you guys discribe you should be looking at the explorer or expedition! and bed extenders, what a joke!
from what ive noticed the people who said that wouldnt buy a screw w/ a 6.5 foot bed is because they wouldnt buy s screw period, which in my mind shouldnt be counted in the poll. I would definatley buy one, actually might wait till they come out before i go '04. a question though...w/ the supercabs, you have the option of getting a 35.7 gallon fuel tank, only b/c you have the big bed. cant get it w/ the current screw setup. but i wonder if when the screw bed size is(if ever) extended, you could get the opt. fuel tank. That would kick some big a**. I am having a HARD time deciding wether to go w/ supercab w/ the opt fuel tank and big bed, or comprimising and getting a screw w/ a smaller bed....uh! decisions, decisons!!

And from what WhiteBlaze82 I agree, most people that voted against it don't like Supercrew's at all, so the vote should be considered null and void. And shockingly it seems that a lot of people are voting against it because they want to park their truck in their garage

I can't believe they aren't offering one. Very short sighted on Ford's part. The lack of 6'+ bed, may mean I'll have to buy Dodge.

My previous truck had an 8 foot bed and I was worried about going to a 5.5 foot, but after today, hauling a load to storage, I was totally satisfied. The bed extender is great and the new deep bed adds a lot more storage. No need for the 6.5 bed here.
